Ichiro 5-5 trying to get another record (hitting .379)

He is hitting .465 with a .500 hundred on base percentage along with a nice little 1.083 OPS in the second half.

He also has 223 hits at this point in time and he is only 34 hits away from breaking George Sisler's record of 257 which was set back in 1920.

He is simply incredible and is in a zone that not many ever see.

I don't think he'll get .400 if that's what you're implying. The guy swings at just about anything but like Vladdy he often gets contact on the ball. The guy is just having the season of his life right now as he's even surpassing his best season in the Japanese league. He'll break Sisler's record for sure.

Of course from a team aspect Ichiro's performance means nothing because they're still losing almost every game. Case in point today.

Arod was on a losing team, does that mean his performance on the Rangers is easily overlooked? Because if it does, than I happen to know of an MVP that was uncalled for!

Ichiro has been hitting like this in every season he's been playing in the Majors. Maybe not quite to this extremity, but you have to play harder when your team stinks. So saying his Performance means nothing really does bug me when the reason he's working his butt off hitting nearly .400 is to try his damndest to help his team win. It's not his fault that he's the only real consistent player on the team. IMO you could make a strong case after Ichiro does break the record for him over Pujols as MVP. Pujols has had alot of support in one of Scott Rolen's best seasons ever, and what about Edmonds? Ichiro is pretty much all alone. I think that says volumes.

Ichiro is having an incredible season and I'd throw him in the top 10 of the AL MVP race, but he is no where close to winning the NL MVP.

On a serious note though.....there are too many meaningful battles going on in the AL West, East, and Wild Card race for Ichiro gain enough votes to win the AL MVP.

You didn't get my point. I'm not arguing Ichiro doesn't deserve some MVP votes, I'm saying even with his performance his teams sucks and that's what matters.

You ask Ichiro and M fans what would they rather have a few MVP votes for Ichiro or a First Place Team and they would chose the latter.

I was at an Angel game and saw him go 5-5 and 4 of those hits were infield singles. Ichiro rules. They should already be getting this guys hall of fame plaque ready.
