He'd need 5 more years of this kind of baseball before I even THINK about putting him in the HOF.

Ichiro could probably play for about 10 more years in the majors if he wanted to. Therefore I don't think he will reach the 3,000 hit mark. Combining both japan and America he would but not in America alone. I think if he continues to break hit records and his defense is as good as it is I could see him in the hall one day but he would have to keep up the 200 hits a season for like at least 6 more year.

Now looking at his stats for his first 4 years, he is the only man to ever start his career with 4 years of 200 hits or more, you figure he strecthes that out for 3 to 4 more years baring injury that streak alone will give him cred for the hall. And since he'll probably end up with about 10 homers every year that really doesn't do much for him but say he does play 10 more years that's 100 homers. He also steals bases which is just another stat he can pile up as long as his speed doesn't decline. I think we are seeing a very special player, and it's sad that he spent those years in Japan before he came over here.

Comments from Ichiro and Buehrle after the game last night.

``You pitch the guy wide, inside, up or down and it doesn't matter,'' said Chicago starter Mark Buehrle, who allowed four of Suzuki's five singles Saturday. ``He didn't hit the ball hard -- it barely got out of the infield -- and he's still 5-for-5.''

Buehrle even tried an eephus pitch against Suzuki, who received a standing ovation from the Chicago crowd after his fifth hit in the ninth inning.

``In Japan, I saw that a lot,'' Suzuki said of the eephus pitch through a translator. ``But here, it's probably the first time.

``To give an ovation to an opposing player, I think they really love the game,'' he added. ``It really made me feel good to see that.''

Despite Suzuki's heroics, the Mariners dropped their fourth straight since a five-game winning streak.

Ichiro's Japanese League stats should count for something when considering him for the HOF. If he continues to bat .350 for 4 or 5 more years than he has to be a lock. He's an INCREDIBLE hitter, and plays the game almost to perfection in both the field and on the bases. Counting him out because he hasn't hit the 'standard' MLB statistics that we're currently judging guys like Fred McGriff to is a mistake. He's succesfully bridged the Eastern and Western hemisphere of the sport-- his place in the history of the game is already secured. The Hall Of Fame was created for guys like him. Before this season I had it in my mind he would begin to regress and bat only .290 or so, but he's upped his game. The guy is awesome. I think it's pretty obvious he's going to be hitting like this for years.

Thank God I kept him on my Fantasy team. He will get the record and he will continue his streak of 200 or more. He will batt .390 this year.
