Pitch to him. If I get beat by Bonds I tip my hat and say one of the greats beat me.

if I had an open base I'd walk him in a second...I think the situation here has bases loaded, 2 outs, 1 run lead...in that situation you have to pitch to him

in that case id give a ton of breaking pitches close to the dirt and see if he chases.

Maybe once but Bonds doesn't chase much. If you want him to swing your going to have to pitch one in the zone.

I'd pitch to Bonds and if I lose well so be it.

Ichiro tho is another matter. If I only have an average pitcher in the 9th in that situation (not really realistic but i'm rolling with it) then i'd be hesitant to pitch to him. If anything i'd have the pitcher throw pitches just out of the zone and be careful. Ichiro is so good at making hits that don't look like much but turn out to be great when you look at the scoreboard the next day.

I'd pitch to him, and attempt a little strategy by making it look like I'm going to pitch around him by throwing a breaking ball in the dirt on the first pitch. Bonds is a great hitter, but he is human and at times will try and do too much at the plate. I'm not going to surrender the lead intentionally, I'd make him beat me.

Bonds probably has the best eye in baseball though. There's no way he chases anything. Bonds don't even need an ump, if he doesn't swing....it's a ball.

BTW I would pitch just because I would feel like an idiot walking in a run to tie the game. Luckily, Barry is on my team .
