Javy will be up tomorrow, I believe. I fully expect him to start at 2B.
Starlin's days in Chicago are numbered. Hopefully Javy can provide a lift. If not him, then La Stella.

Was nice to see Addy Russell go yard off Chapman, although Chapman wasn't going 100% in a 13-5 game at that point.

The Dodgers ran out of hitters last night and had Clayton Kershaw and Chris Hatcher pinch hit.

I agree, that way he can perhaps pass Ted Williams next season.

Damn it... I figured he already passed Williams. I am hoping he gets over 500 and then will retire. For the better of the team, meaning Hanley will move to DH.

                Re: 8/31 - 9/13 Game Discussion Thread

I posted this on Facebook, so I might as well bring it over here. Giants rant.

The Giants' loss wasn't a great one. No matter how disappointing it was on our end, if the Dodgers lost it would have been much more disappointing for them. At least lightning struck for them during the extra innings.

So, in times like these people assign blame. Is it Posey popping up with the bases loaded? Is it Aoki taking a dreadful 0-for-6 in the lead-off spot? is it Peavy staying in one batter too long?

No, I only boil it down to one man. Two, actually. Ehire Adrianza should not ever come up to the plate for the rest of his Major League career, unless Meulens sits him down and talks to him about stance, approach, and swing mechanics... during a five course meal. Otherwise, he has no business up here.

So, Mr. Bochy... tell me why after only three plate appearances that the .328 hitting second baseman is being replaced by the .169 hitting benchwarmer? Why was the double-switch necessary? As it appears, no one hitter came up in Tomlinson's spot for more than one plate appearance at a time. Why couldn't that have stayed in the 9-spot? You needed an important at-bat the next time around in the top of the 7th? Pinch-hit Madison freakin' Bumgarner! The guy has an OPS that is .150 points higher than Adrianza this season, and is .100 points higher than him in his career!

I really don't understand this scenario. Look, Maxwell and Susac aren't really doing much better at the plate and I understand that (Susac's swing is way too long and Maxwell is late on the fastball yet can't resist the low breaking ball), but Adrianza's at-bats are certain outs. It would be one thing if he made loud outs, but have you seen his outs? Specifically from the right side?

Somebody pick up a bat right now and take a swing. Where did your back foot go? Did it at least stay in place? Now, try and swing with your back foot sliding out from underneath you. How do you feel with that swing? That's how Adrianza is swinging. It is unprofessional, and indisputably aggravating to watch come to the plate.
Bruce, you made the wrong choice there, and that was the only wrong decision you made in the game. Period. I'm not saying we would have won otherwise (as I said the Dodgers deserved to win this one), but the loss was partially created as a result of putting out a terrible offense when all we had to do was beat LA's bullpen.

On that note, Alejandro De Aza is coming in. I don't really understand the move, though. Pagan is coming back and we are moving to the 40-man roster. What is going to be his role here? He's a pretty good glove, has some speed, and I bet he'll be the smallest Giant to ever hit a ball in the Cove his time with us, but is he a rental or for keeps? Either way, we could have done better with that one. Just a head-scratching move, is all. If he could play middle-infield, I would see why he would maybe replace Adrianza, but he's an outfielder.

We still have two more games against the Dodgers with favorable match-ups and we can win them, but it starts with good decision-making. Don't let Adrianza bat again, ever. He can run, but if that spot comes back up in the order, remove him immediately. Don't even let him bunt. Don't give him the chance to possibly have to swing the bat if he fails to do the former. Enough is enough. Get him out of the offensive side of the ball. In fact, just cut him. We have forty guys now, we're okay. Adios, Ehire.

                    tl;dr version

Adrianza sucks and shouldn't ever bat again. Bochy took out Tomlinson to give Adrianza four unsuccessful plate appearances, one of which he popped up a bunt with. If he needed to use his top of the 7th situation to hit somebody other than a pitcher, he should have pinch-hit Bumgarner.

Miguel Sano has been everything the Twins could have hoped for through his first 200 PA.

What about Pablo Sandoval? That guy is not long for playing on the field unless the Sawx want to trade him and eat up most of the salary.

Hasn't really been healthy, but yeah, his ABs have been pretty terrible at the MLB level. I won't really be that disappointed if he doesn't pan out if Sano is what he seems to be.

He hasn't been healthy, but his approach at the plate is abysmal. He looks like a kid in over his head while Sano looks like a man among boys. It's amazing to me that scouts would ever look at Buxton and say he's a better prospect than Sano.
