    Well....I'm with Papelbon on this.
    Sorry.
He was absolutely right to call out Harper on dogging it.
That's unacceptable at any time IMO.....and if Harper started jawing at me like that after calling him out and being right.....I'd be putting my fist in his pie-hole....easy.(and maybe a nut punch for good measure!)

On to the good side of things......
The Mets had their rookies wear underoos at the airport in Philly....they had to wait for the Pope to leave....and they had to keep on their underoos costumes.....
I like a little "hazing" as long as it's not sadistic and doesn't hurt anyone.

    It builds camaraderie....

Jake Arrieta almost sent one onto Waveland again.

EDIT: And Castro did go yard, barely.

        Re: 9/14 - 9/27 Game Discussion Thread

Lets talk about this reseeding business a little bit. Take the NL as a template: lets freeze the records and it stays Cards>Pit>Cubs>Mets>Dodgers. Lets further say the Pirates win the WC game. Currently that would leave us with:

        • Pirates at Cardinals (Pirates having [probably] spent Cole on the WC Game.)
        • Dodgers at Mets

If we reseeded after the Wild Card Game it would go:

        • Dodgers at Cardinals
        • Mets at Pirates (Pirates having spent Cole [probably]on the WC Game.)

So the Cardinals, having the best record in the league go from facing a 95 (a little bit more by seasons end) but a team that pitched their Ace in the WC Game and would only be able to pitch him just once in the series [A HUGE advantage as far as I'm concern] to facing a Division Winner with Kershaw/Greinke.

The Pirates, a WC team (albeit one with the second best record in the league), now hosts a series against a weaker Mets team (lets not get into an argument on which team is stronger now that Carlos Martinez and Yadier Molina are hurt).

        -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know, I guess I need to get over the idea of Wild Card teams as 2nd class citizens that shouldn't get any breaks (home field advantage, not having to face the team with the best record right away.).

I do know that the NBA went through a similar situation this summer and I was simmering at the thought of the Spurs having to face the Clippers on round one (betting purposes ) and I think the NBA did the right thing with adopting reseeding but basically destroying any significance that winning the division might've had before which wouldn't occur (just a little bit) in baseball since teams are still scared to death at having to play on the WC Game.

TLDR: I'm uneasy about the prospect of reseeding but it definitely has its merits. I may need to get over some mental hurdles.

What you guys think about reseeding?

I've grown a massive, massive hatred watching ballplayers dog it a lot, especially when or if it comes with some sort of superiority complex. I think it's why I love watching players like Heyward and Pence. No time for being bigger than the game, your team, or the money you make, etc. My softball players have to hear this one from me all of the time.

Papelbon probably shouldn't have grabbed him by the throat, but I definitely know where that rage was coming from. Young, dumb punk. I don't even care if he's an MVP candidate, a Hall of Famer or anything like that. Sometimes you should hear what somebody else has to say about you, especially when the entire season was going down the toilet despite your numbers. So I say... good for you, Jonathan.

Ya know, that's the one thing that is curious. Of all the things you could to and you go for the throat? That initial kind of move (vs. throwing a punch) is pretty heinous.

Jays look to clinch the AL East in Baltimore which I think is somewhat fitting. In recent days Alex Anthopoulos made comments about how he and his front office staff were in Baltimore watching the O's celebrate their division title and that's when they got the ball rolling thinking about how they can overhaul the Jays and make them a better team.

It has to be a little awkward for the Jays already knowing they are going to playoffs but not actually "clinching" it yet. Hope they get it done just to get it out of the way.

They've already clinched playoff spot, just not division yet.

But they're in position where they shouldn't even be thinking about the Yankees at all.If they even need Yankees to lose even 1 game, then something went wrong to close out season. 7 games left. Just need at most, 4 wins to clinch division.

But obviously the sooner they clinch, the sooner they can start resting guys. I know they want to get 1st in AL, but at same time, I'd rather have team that's much more rested up in playoffs, while not having home advantage in ALCS, over team which has guys tired cause of playing all the way till game 162, and having home advantage in ALCS.

If they can clinch division in the O's series, then they can rest guys for the Rays series. And since they won't be playing GM1 in ALDS till Thursday, that'd be like 5-6 days of rest for some guys. Might be too much for some, but for someone like Edwin who has been battling finger problem for awhile, he could use it.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I don't call a wild card spot the playoffs unless you win that game. I just call it Game 163 (where stats don't carry over).

You're not the only one, to me, it's more of a play in game.

Me too. I certainly didn't feel like the A's made the playoffs last year for sure. Maybe players feel differently.

It's called the Wild Card round, so I definitely consider it the playoffs., and the teams in them playoff teams.

Just like the teams that play in the First Four games made it to the NCAA tournament.
