243 hits on the year, 15 shy from breaking the record

905 hits in his first four years in the MLB, 14 shy of breaking that record

After tonight he is the All-Time leader for most singles hit in one season, both modern-era and past, stretching all the way back to 1898.

He has 11 more games to get 15 hits

6 of those games are going to be against Texas Rangers pitching

Ichiro...heheh....is going to annhialate the Record...no matter what...that'll be like, what, 5 or 6 different records broken this year for Ichiro?

Can't we start talking MVP? I mean come on...this is alot of Records to be breaking to be getting little to no MVP talk. I don't care if it is for a losing team, being on a winning team is not important for an MVP. It stands for "Most Valuable Player", not "Most Valuable Player on a Winning Team".

They play only texas and oakland their last 11 games, which actually works against him. since both teams are in the playoff race, i expect a lot more walks to ichiro. the only thing that can work for ichiro is if the mariners fall behind early in the game, which will allow the opposing pitchers to throw to him. if the games are close, expect more walks to him.

I think he can average a hit a game and then have 2 hit games in 4 others...Ichiro should do it, though it might come down to the wire.

i would not be surpised if they elect him to the HOF...Of course he would have to have near the same production that he's having now for the next 6-7 years..probably doubtfuly cause he's a slap hitter who relies heavily on his speed...

I wouldn't walk the guy, ever. You walk him and you just gave the guy a double. Why give him a 100% chance of a double over a 35-40% chance at a single?
