oh man I'm still alive. Arrieta didn't have his best stuff and still dominated. Impressive.

Yeah if it hasn't happened in the NLDS era it never would have since both teams have always been in the NL.

It reminds me a bit of the Packers-Bears NFC Championship game in 2010 with how there are bitter regional rivals that never/almost never meet in the playoffs.

Arrieta was traded for Scott Feldman and Steve Clevenger, let that sink in.

I looked it over, the Cubs have never faced the Cards in the playoffs if you can believe it.

There has never been a Cubs-Cards matchup in playoffs.

However, the franchises have met before. St.Louis Browns vs Chicago White Stockings back in 85-86(1885,1886 if it wasn't obvious)

First Cubs playoff shutout since the 1945 World Series.

It will honestly surprise me when Jake gives up more than 1 run in a game. He wasn't his best tonight and still threw a 4 hit CG with 11 Ks. Just unreal.

Well, that's more about the Orioles complete inability of developing pitchers.

Wouldn't the Chicago White Stockings be the White Sox now?

Arrieta wasn't enough, so we made them toss in Pedro Strop, too.

The greatest steal in the history of MLB if Arrieta stays in Chicago and remains at an ace level.

No, we were the White Stockings, then the Colts, then the Orphans before finally settling on the Cubs.

Said it before,I hope whoever wins NL WC game goes to the WS(and wins it if they're not facing the Jays). Still hoping for that. Cards losing to Cubs would mean we're guaranteed to see a team win who hasn't won in over 20 years(which would be just the 3rd time in MLB history! And first time ever where the final 4 teams would be teams with no WS wins in 20+ years)
