    Per MLBTradeRumors

The Athletics have acquired outfielder Khris Davis from the Brewers in a deal that will send catching prospect Jacob Nottingham and righty Bubba Derby to Milwaukee, per announcements from both teams. Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle first reported that a deal was nearing.

Oakland has designated pitcher Sean Nolin to clear roster space.

Beat writer for the Brewers on Twitter:

Since last July, #Brewers have traded their starting LF, CF, 3B, SS and 1B, plus SP (Fiers) and closer (K-Rod).

The dismantling continues. One has to wonder if Lucroy is next.

I just hope it's not Texas, the asking price is way too high...No way Texas is giving up 1 of their big 3 (Gallo, Mazara, or Brinson)

Little note, A's DFA'd Sean Nolin to make room for Davis. He was part of the Donaldson trade.

I hear you, Stearns is doing the Astros way.

Olney wrote an insiders article stating the system is flawed. I know Stearns and the Brewers brass hate the tank word, they use rebuilding mode.

So just a year after the Donaldson trade, half the guys the A's got, could no longer even be with their team lol.

I would deal Gallo for Lucroy.

Apparently they're wanting Mazara or Brinson, Ariel Jurado or Yohander Mendez, one of our good young SS's and a lower level pitching prospect.

Personally, I wouldn't part with Gallo, Mazara or Brinson though...

Good grief...I feel bad for Counsell having to manage this "team". I know there was a recent conversation about tanking. This seems like an obviously blatant case of it. Honestly, the Commish should step in and stop this if it continues.

Nah, the NL Central is tough enough. Let em tank.

They've won most of those trades though. Nottingham was a weirdly good return for Davis. Brett Phillips was a solid enough return for Gomez, who might suck. Segura sucks. And so on. I don't think we're at the stage where we can differentiate from from rebuilding and tanking yet. I don't think we have enough evidence to differentiate between "Management doesn't like previous management's core" and "We want to lose as many games as possible."

Maybe I'm just biased because the guys they're trading are all more scouting-oriented players and the guys they're acquiring are all stat-scouty guys which aligns more with my beliefs. But as someone who looked at the Brewers' core for years and went "eww," I get why a new management team would come in, tear the thing down, and acquire some young talent. It's not like the guys are in A ball either. Phillips, Nottingham, etc are in the higher minors.
