Declines $15m QO, signs $9m deal with a $5m buyout that will get him QO'd again next offseason lmao. Casey Close gonna be out of a job

I just feel like if what the Orioles did was so egregious, the agent wouldn't have waited two days to comment on it.

By the sounds of it, they had an agreement in place, the agent went back and tried to force an opt out on them so as to paint the Orioles in a corner, and they said **** off and they went to a team that gave the opt out after a year.

Sounds to me like Fowler's agent tried to pull a power play and of course those who like to pick on the O's will just chalk it up to their ownership and management being incompetent.

I, for one hopes Fowler has a dreadful 2016 because behavior like that should never be rewarded.

Wrong, Fowler took less money because his heart is in Chicago. He makes the request to the agent and the agent then works to get what the PLAYER wants....

He got him 33 mill from Baltimore until Bmore botched the whole damn thing and left the door open for Theo to come in and sweep him up.

This is the smartest move his agent could've ever done for him. He gets 13 mill guaranteed and hits the open market in a weaker OF FA market.

This is nothing but a GREAT thing for him and his agent.

Except....The Cubs outfield is crowded. If Fowler has a slow start like he did last year he's not going to get the ABs he needs to turn it around and will be in a similar situation next offseason scrambling for a big contract but having to settle for less.

Course, if he has a season close to his 2nd half last year than that's moot.

Well Soler leaves his bat in Arizona until about may 15th every year because he can't play in the cold. Fowler is going to play btw 120-135 games this year.
(barring injury) he's our everyday CF and will be leading off the majority of the time. the crowded outfield doesn't hurt fowler. It hurts Schwarber and Soler.

I'm surprised that this many people hate the Orioles and liking teams that everyone hates can be extremely stressful, so regardless of what happened this situation sucks.

It is a nice signing, but not sure it was necessary.

Also, they continue to hamper Soler's ability to actually prove himself as an everyday player. Smh
