This must be the most excited I've ever been for contract numbers to come out. I can't wait to see the pile they threw at this guy to get him to go to Arizona.

Doesn't have to be too much. Just more than the others. Greinke is an admitted mercenary.
Great signing for now. Arizona has quite the foundation building.Comment

Yea they were good but not great last year. Got a great young core together with Corbin, Goldy and Pollock too.Comment

Same. Always interesting to watch a small market team make the big push like this, and steal him away from the big markets. Can't wait to see his figures, and watch him break Price's short lived AAV record.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

Well yeah, lol. But the insinuation was that the Diamondbacks would have to go 50 million over the highest bid just to bring him in to a podunk franchise like Arizona's.Comment

Dodgers offered 5 at 155 according to Jon Heyman. Also adds that they were never comfortable going to 6.Last edited by redsox4evur; 12-04-2015, 08:34 PM.Comment

Greinke, one of the game’s most astute players, liked the #DBacks’ young talent. And obviously, he got monster dollars as well.

Seeing those numbers makes me think David Price is more likely to opt out after year three.Comment

I just heard on MLB-N that it's 6 years 206 mil
Either way, who'd have thought the D'Backs would swoop in and take the best pitcher in the market like that.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Looks like Bob Nightengale was wrong, now I just read 6/195 (actually a joke it looks like, it says $6 for 195 years lol) is what the Giants offered. It's probably way less with CA taxes anyway, but I don't know the rates in Arizona to compare. I would take every penny on my last contract if I was him too, I'll never get why people (not here in this instance) get upset when guys take the money and run, it is a job after all.
Rosenthal says some of the money is deferred, I'm guessing like Scherzer's contract. It'll be interesting to see what kind of magic GM's will do in the future with this option out there.Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 12-04-2015, 09:05 PM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
