    Yankees vs. Red Sox again

This time it's a 3 game series at Boston. Pretty much the last chance for the Red Sox to get back in the division race. If the Yankees swept, they clinch. If they win 2 out of 3 their magic number is 2 with 6 games to play.

Red Sox need to win at least 2 of 3, and probably sweep to have any hope. They could do it though. Tonight is a Pedro vs. Mussina rematch which should be a good one. Tommorrow is Vazquez vs. Wakefield, and Sunday could be a laugher with Loazia vs. Schilling.

Should be a good series. Go Yankees!

Being 4 1/2 games back, Boston must sweep to have a realistic shot at the division title. I say they take 2 out of 3, even though a sweep would make things quite interesting.

Judgeing by how Francona has been using the bullpen id say the division is out of reach. They're better off keeping Foulke, Timlin and Embree fresh for the playoffs. I assume the Yankees will do the same with Rivera, Gordon and Quantrill.

            Magic Number is 4.

The Red Sox are done :|

Man, it's gonna be easy for the Yankees to go to the World Series this year.. unless Anaheim or Texas can pass the A's.

BTW, I don't believe in the Red Sox curse. if the Sox were half as passionate as their fans are, they'd have won a decent number of World Series already.

Red Sox chances of winning the division are probably done, but they should still be tough in the postseason.

And I would much rather the Yankees face Anaheim or Texas instead of the A's or Twins, so I hope your right.

Well.. recent history favors the Yankees, they've had an easy time with the Twins and A's in the postseason over the last few years.

I dunno how tough the Red Sox are.. my problem with them.. well, I see the Mets in them, though the Sox are a much better team. They just seem to be too content with where they are and just don't seem to be fired up. There was a little bit of fire in their bellies earlier this year with the Varitek/A-Rod brawl and fighting from 10 1/2 games back to 2 1/2 games, but that seems to be gone now.

I think the Yankees main worry in the postseason will be from the NL. They have the hitting to overcome their shortcomings on the mound, but that might be different when they are up against an NL team.
