    Re: Cubs: Another Rediculous Effort

I hope the Cubs do trade Sosa next year, that would be wonderful. He's become a liability for the team. As for Nomar, I love Nomar and I also love Clement, but I think Hendry would be VERY smart to lock Ramirez up long term, that guy has had a break out year! He hits for average and has great power and who knew he had a glove over there at third!? If I had my wish here's what would happen...

Sosa, gone, no doubt about it and I don't care who for. I'd honestly rather have Grieve playing every day going into the playoffs/wildcard hunt.

Ramirez signed long term for sure.

Garciaparra resigned if he's being reasonable.

Patterson, either learn to be a leadoff hitter and quit striking out 10,000 times a week or find another team.

Resign Clement if possible, but if not, its no big deal Wood, Prior, Maddux, Zambrano and myself would make up a greak starting rotation.

Perhaps most importantly of all...PLEASE FIX THE BULLPEN...especially the closer role.

Oh, I almost forgot my worst hated Cub of all...LOL. I hate this guy a million times more than sosa. Kyle Farnsworth is the worst pitcher I've ever seen pitch on the major league level. I remember a game earlier in the season when he threw 19 out of 21 pitches for balls...lol. This guy is a joke and belongs in single A ball if he's lucky. Just because you can throw the ball 100 mph (which he hits on occasion) doesn't mean your major league quality. Get rid of this joker please!

Just wanted to say how much I love LaTroy Hawkins today...I'm so glad the Giants are beating the $h!t out of LA right now. It makes that rediculous loss today hurt even more. Only one half of a game up now...Thanks LaTroy...and Sosa...

Trading Sosa would be tough. I'm not sure but I think he is making a ton of money next year and not many teams would want to take that on. Espically if all he does is strikeout. Love him or hate him I think he's going to be a Cub next year.

LOL I think it is going to be tough to trade Sosa, because nobody will want him.

I mean, I don't really like Sosa anyway, and I think that it is for the very reason that he swings ultimately hard on any pitch, in any location, in any count, for any situation. He is tremendously overrated, and even if he ends up with 800 home runs in his career, his shot for best player ever is just not there. Sosa is TREMENDOUSLY overrated, and should never be put up for any big name awards, even MVP's, I mean how can somebody that goes 0-4 every 3 games or so be considered somebody that leads your team to victory?

But seriously, I've had to watch Bonds get walked all year... and with his 5 walks today (3 intentional), he's now up to 221 walks on the year. So, as frusterated as you Cubs fans are watching Sosa strike out, I'm just as frusterated to watch Bonds walk. Actually, I'm not as frusterated anymore, because the guy behind him isn't constantly grounding into double plays. You see, the reason why Bonds is so valuable is not only what he does at the plate, but him in the batting lineup alone changes the way that the pitcher throws to everybody else in the Giants lineup, especially the guys right in front. The pitcher gives them many more strikes, making them much more productive. Look at Pedro Feliz today for example... 4-5 with a home run. Who is the REAL player of the game, Feliz or Bonds? Statistically, it's Feliz, but in reality, if Bonds wasn't in the lineup, Feliz probably would not get those same pitches.

My point is, Sosa's approach and intimidation at the plate is downright horrible. Pitchers know that they can throw out of the strike zone and get him to chase it, and they also aren't afraid to throw strikes knowing that it's probably not going to be too effective for Sosa. If he learns to swing maybe 85% instead of 110%, and if he can learn the strike zone, I will have more respect for him.

this is why i still have 100% confidence that the Giants will make the playoffs. If we dont win the West we know we have the wildcard since we can count on the Cubs to screw themselves over.

Sometimes I just have to laugh...HAHAHA!!!

The Cubs just dropped 2 of 3 to the Mets!!! The F*cking METS!!! What the heck is goin on!!!???

And honestly, I'm more worried about the Astros now than the Giants. The Giants and Dodgers are going to beat the crap out of each other 3 more times (not including today's game) and the Cubs will probably split with Cincinnati and lose 2 of 3 to the Braves. The Astros have a good chance at it if they can win the series against the Cards (which will be tough). But as for the Cubs...if they do make the wild card, they'll be lucky to win one game against the Giants/Dodgers or the Braves.

you need to relax man - youre acting as if the Cubs play in Boston - the cubs are expected to lose, and blow it - so what else is new?....they have a legit chance to make the playoffs this year again which has not happened since i dont know how long probably 30 or so years...maybe longer...so just relax and enjoy and hopefully the cubs mae it but if not its not the end of the world.
