I think it was due to my "Dear Mets Fans" thread, but I can't confirm that. As much as I hate the Mets, I think this is the best move they could have made... it's good for their club in the long run.

Too bad for Bobby, he's the 2nd winningest Met manager and it's not hi's fault that guys like Alomar and Burnitz sucked BADLY.. Still the mets need to make lots of changes and it looks like I'll start from the top, now please trade Rey Ordoñez as the 1st move!!

i'm a big mets fan and when i heard that rey rey did not want to play in new york b/c the fans are too hard on players i laughed b/c the mets will trade him so fast his head will start spinning!! then he'll realize how good he had it in ny with the mets.Twitch

I wouldn't put much of the blame on Bobby V, but after two crappy seasons it's probably time for a change.
the only free agent move i didn't like was the Jeremy Burnitz deal. Who would've thought Alomar would suddenly forget to play, Vaughn would suddenly turn to crap after an injury, Cedeno would do absolutely nothing ......etc.
Oh yeah and Ordonez is crap. 254 average, 1 homerun, 42 rbi for only 6 MILLION? Awesome!
he's a glove and nothing else. Plus the glove hasn't been as good the past couple of years with his increased errors .Comment

I am a life-long Mets fan and I believe that this was the WRONG move. So, he's had two subpar seasons, the man is an expert strategist, no matter how you shake it. He took a team that really didn't belong in the playoffs to the world series. Frankly, I believe they should have just cleared all the coaches out. Fully, except for Mookie.
OH well, it is done so my boys can only go forward. I'm glad they didn't can Phillips as I think he does his job. I just wonder who they will get next?Comment
