    Bob Melvin Fired

I think this is a good move, we need to bring in someone with a little fire and enthusiasm to mold these young kids. Yes I understand that I was spoiled watching Pinella manage, but watching Bob sit in the dugout and eat his candy was a disgrace, he never seemed to get mad or get in an umpires face to show the player he has his back

Seeing this I think we should look at bringing Larry Bowa back, he would definatly have the fire to wake these guys up. Art Howe would be a good choice as well, he just knows his baseball. But I have a feeling the manager will come from the Angels organization, Bavasi's old team. Probably Mickey Hatcher, which would be interesting because it would be another unproven manager taking over the team.

The other good news is that the team said they would not cut payroll which is good to hear.

There was an article in my newspaper about how Melvin was expecting to return next year. lol

I do think this was a good idea. I think we just need 24 more Ichiros and we'd be set! :y4:

Not a surprising move. I think that Bowa would be good for them in that he would really fire the players up but I also think that he's only good for a season or so as players tend to tune out coaches and managers like that.

Rumor has it that Bill Bavasi wants Angels bench coach Joe Maddon while Pat Gillick wants Jimy Williams. I'm not sure if the Angels will give Seattle permission to talk with Maddon, but i think he would be the better choice over Williams or Larry Bowa. I would like to see the Mariners interview Ken Griffey Sr.

How about hiring Paul Molitor. You got a HOFer as your hitting coach why not give him a shot at managing or is he still not interested?

IMO they need to get someone who will put on defensive moves and knows how to control baserunning and...well....Coach....Bob Melvin just doesn't do that good of a job at that...I didn't hate the guy like some M's fans, he was okay, just not what the M's needed. I hope he doesn't hold a grudge after being fired. I have no preference as of yet to who I'd like to see. That might come back to bite me in the butt, though.

They fired Molitor and everyone on the staff, except pitching coach Bryan Price. Which is good cause he knows his hurling. Sad to see Molly go after one year, but Bavasi will rebuild this coaching staff the way he wants. I say why not, give him a shot to prove what he was brought in here for.

Now Ken Griffey Sr. sounds good as well. He deserves a shot. Plus that would entice a 500 HR club member back to his real hometown. Sorry thats just a fantasy, but I still can't stomach Griffey in Red.
