                I was surprised Sheffield didn't piledrive Varitek before he got that foul pop

                I don't see Arroyo going in the 9th.

                            You are correct. Basically the Yankees get punished for the attempted cheating by Arod. It's a rule to further discourage teams from trying dirty plays like that, because you're only going to hurt your team.

                                Jeter was given 2nd because on a interference play the runners return to the base where they started.
