Yankees in 7. At this point, you don't look at lineups, statistics or anything like that. This series is gonna be all mental. Last year the Red Sox could have won because of more talent, but they didnt.

I say the Yankees because they still have a mental advantage over Boston.

I don't think so, i've seen lots of interviews and stuff and Schilling is already a leader in the BoSox clubhouse. He knows what it takes to win in the playoffs and he's brought an attitude to Boston that wasn't seen last year. They know they could've won last year so now they'll take every opportunity and capitalize on it.

I think it'll go in 7 and it'll be one heckuva series!

you should here the boston fans calling the new york radio stations saying that boston is going to win in 4 and then they will sweep the world series and you guys get on me for being so over confident. at least my team wins. what the hell has boston done.
no need to get overconfident as the yankees do have starting pitching problems. Hopefully el duque's shoulder will be healed, kevin brown, john lieber, javier vazquez can fix his pitching mechanics, and mike mussina can pitch as well as they did against the twins. However, to give the yanks credit, they should be able to score more runs, and won't have to face johan santana.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

                          Re: Yankees-Red Sox ALCS Thread

There's nothing for pure humor like a group of fans insisting that their team that hasn't won since the Armistice is a lock to beat the team that has beat their brains in pretty much the entire time.

"But this year is different!" Yes, that's what they said last year.

"This is the best Sox team I've ever seen!" That's what they said last year, shortly before retiring their Cowboy Up! shirts to the bottom of the drawer.

As a Yankees fan do I think we can lose this series? Absolutely. Boston has a good team, the Yankees have cracks, and let's face it, it's not easy to go 0-76. Am I worried? Not really. This Yankees team has earned the benefit of the doubt from me for the forseable future. I'll believe that they'll lose when the last out is recorded in the ninth inning of the deciding game. At that point, I'll tip my hat to the other team and leave it at that.

But Red Sox nation needs to learn that they're being transparent with their chest puffing and braggadocio. There's a lot of reason to be optimistic, but then again, the Red Sox haven't won a meaningful game against the Yankees this year and we all know it. They haven't. And we all know that every Sox fan is going to be reduced to a quivering heap of jelly at multiple points during the series as they await the inevitable collapse. They (and we) will be more surprised if the Sox don't collapse than if they do. That pretty much undermines all the trash talking, because its talking from a position of fundamental weakness. Maybe the mighty Sox get their act together, vanquish their long term rivals and go on to make it 1-76, at which point you guys can resume acting like your baseball team is the best thing since sliced bread. But until then, just shut the hell up and hope for the best.

Personally.. something will stop the Red Sox from winning the series. I do not believe in a Red Sox curse. They are good enough to win but they do not have their heads in the game when they have a shot. The only ones that can be blamed are themselves.

The Yankees? Yankee magic? Come on.. you're telling me the Yankees won 26 world titles by luck? Nope. Talent. Should never take away from the players that are currently taking the field to win their championships. I do not like the Yankees, I feel Steinbrenner is the scum of the earth, but the difference between the Yankees and the Sox is that they have their heads in the game most of the time and hardly make any dumb on-the-field decisions that cost them games.

IMO, the Sox and the Yankees are equal on talent. The Sox could win the series, but I think they would just go ahead and blow it all away when they have a series victory in reach. I don't think we'll ever get to that point in this series, though.

                              Yankees in 5.
