In many of those cases its like comparing a mercedes to a bmw. Just because ARod is better than Mueller does not mean Mueller wont have a good/great series and that goes for almost every position for both teams.

Re: Yankees-Red Sox ALCS Thread
Actually I already posted this but the lineups are so even that I think having Schilling start 3 times is an advantage for Boston. This is assuming Schilling pitches well. Schilling is the best starter on either team. This, however, doesnt mean he will excel and also a couple of Yankee pitchers might step up their game. If you like Mercedes more then ARod is a Mercedes and vice versa. No one would say Mueller is better but every position player is capable of having a better series than his counterpart.
BTW, this is the best thing since the 90s when the Cowboys would play the Niners or the 80s when the Lakers would play the Celtics. Most leagues have gone to a salary cap. Even the NCAA has had scholarship reductions. So it has become far more rare that you can see these epic battles.Comment

Schilling doesn't scare me. He would've lost game 7 in 2001 if it wasn't for the bottom of the 9th, and our lineup is just so much better than it was then. Also, we made him cry earlier in the season.:y4:
Originally posted by Mr_BlondeI think everyone is underrating the Yankee pitching. Mussina has been great since September, and usually does pretty good against the Sox (they're hitting .189 as a team against him, [Manny .203, Nixon .193, Varitek .091, and Ortiz .069]). Lieber gives up a lot of hits, but he always seems to get out of a jam. Brown is the wild card, IMO. If he steps up, the Yankees won't have many problems. If he chokes, it could be trouble. Vazquez, while I don't have much confidence in him, wasn't that bad against the Twins, he didn't get any strikes called.
I think they'll split in NY making game 3 starters, Arroyo and Brown, the pivotal matchup. There is also a good possibility they could face off in game 7.
My pick: Red Sox in 7.Comment

Another thought on the series..
You know how you watch a movie with a scary ending, and you think it's gonna change every time you see it? This is that series. We know how this story ends.-Jay Illestrate, Emcee/Producer/Graphic Artist
