    Mariano Rivera

Most haven't heard... but there is a rumor that Mariano Rivera suffered a loss in his family yesterday. The clubhouse got very quiet... the media was asked to leave... and his wife came in crying.

Besides that... Tom Gordon was hit int he eye with a popped cork.

Here's a link to the article

Plus there was an article from a Panamanian newspaper that I translated using an online translator. It reads:

"2 electrocutados in house of Mariano Rivera"

Apparently the boy touched a cable and his father when seeing what it happened, tried to save it. A father and his son died yesterday electrocutados in the mansion of the great leagues chorrerano, Mariano Rivera. Víctor Darío Avila, of 35 years, better well-known like "Yeye", prime brother of the wife of the player of the Yankees, and their son Víctor Leonel Avila, of 14 years, died within the swimming pool that were cleaning. Apparently the boy touched a cable and his father when seeing what it happened, tried to save it. Heartrendering scenes occurred in the outskirts of the house of Mariano Rivera, that while she sent against the Twin ones of Minnesota, her people cried heartbroken the death of the Víctor fisherman and his son"

Apparently two were electrocuted in Mariano's house.

The Yanks chances will be even worse if he misses the ALCS.... but at a time like this... baseball shouldn't be a priority.

My heart goes out to Mariano and his family.

Latest update, he's left the team to go back to Panama. Torre will discuss his situation/return on Monday. This will seriously dent the Yanks chance of winning the ALCS if he misses a few games, but clearly some things in life are far more important than baseball, this being one of them.
