Is Phil Garner high during games?

I know being a manager is hard and as a Cubs fan I think Dusty Baker is very overrated, but Phil Garner has made some stupid decisions that make me wonder how this team went 37-10 down the stretch. How could he have taken Clemens out after 5 innings. He looked fine to me. And he doubled switched his best player today to gain 1, thats right 1 spot in the batting order. In Game 2 he asked his closer to get 8 outs. This isnt 1979 closers cant do that anymore. Why is Clemens even pitching on 3 days rest. You got a 2-1 lead save him for game 5. In fairness Minnesota did the same thing pulling santana which I couldnt believe. I just think he has made bad bad decisions. Am I wrong?

As a note... this post isn't in his defense as I'm not an Astros fan.

Obviously Clemens... the competitor that he is... will always say he has enough left in the tank for another inning. But I think Garner had to assume the Astros would take the series... and not risk tiring him out for the LCS after he only had 3 days rest.

I didn't watch the whole game but from what I heard... the double switch was a big misunderstanding... and he couldn't undo it fast enough to take it back.

I think he should get some of the credit for their run down the strecth. I think everyone considered them done after Williams got fired.

This is all just speculation though.

Garner's comments were that Clemons was running on fumes.

It happens, I'm sure Mike Scoscia (sp?) still wonders about putting Washburn in...
