    Official, Mets Managerial Hiring Thread

Just so we can all enjoy the train wreck in one thread!!

Tosca was interviewed on Friday. Minaya stated in the interview that Peterson will be the pitching coach regardless of who is hired as manager.

Today it will be Texas hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo

I'm surprised that they plan on interviewing Willie Randolph. The perception that would give would be a PR nightmare... The Mets are looking to the Yankees for help... If he comes in and the Mets become successful, then it will be that the Mets couldn't win until the Yankee came in and showed them the way.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Bobby V will be back for a second tour of duty.

That's what I was thinking, but a couple days ago I was listening to WFAN and the Mets beat reporter said he would be surprised if they brought Bobby V back. He said that Omar Minaya wanted to put his own stamp on the team and start with a new face, not a rehash. So the Mets have been looking at some guys who have never managed before. I don't know how correct the report was so I don't really know who they want. I sure would like to see Bobby V back though.

Cito Gaston is a good name... What's he been doing since being let go by the Blue Jays? You figure you have 2 World Series rings to your name, you'd at least get a sniff. But I would gladly submit his name. The only problem is that I think he may be perceived as too "nice" for this team, like Art Howe. If you get rid of a mild-mannered guy, usually they'll bring in someone hardcore, like a Lou Piniella.

I would submit Cito, Bobby V, Jim Leyland, or Tom Kelly.
