Jim Leyland and TK are both too old and burnt out to be managing in the limelight of NY so I'd rule them out.

I heard that Jim Fregosi is going to interview for the job. ( or already did) I sadly don't think Cito Gaston will ever manage in the big leagues again. The man is happy in retirement but the bigger reason was that he was hired as hitting coach for a 2nd time in the late 90s and clashed with Shawn Green again. Green isn't known as a bad guy in the clubhouse so if he couldn't get along with him then I don't think he'd get along in the pressure cooker that's New York (he was burned by the media in his managerial days here in TO as a button pusher)

Anyways i'm hoping to see Bobby V in a Mets uniform again but if not then I don't think it'd be too bad to have Willie Randolph there. I mean the guy's been interviewed for every managerial vacancy in the last few yrs but just hasn't been hired.

I'd be shocked if Willie Randolph or anybody of Yankee background is hired as manager of the Mets. The whole "Mets need us to help them win" thing might work against them. I think Willie would be a great manager, though, I'd love to see him get a gig. Honestly, why would he leave for the mess that is the Mets? He'd probably be better off sticking around for if/when Torre decides he's had enough.

Don't worry Squidsta... won't happen... The Mets hiring anyone with Yankee ties would be a public relations nightmare. Steinbrenner would eat that up.
