Joe Maddon's bullpen decisions lately...yikes. I'm not sure bringing in a wounded Rondon into a close game against the Cardinals was the right strategy. Easier to see in hindsight, but Maddon's getting stung on his decisions lately.

That's been his biggest struggle thus far as Cubs manager. I don't know if he takes Bosio's input on who to bring in or what, but he needs to improve in that regard.

He also had games in 2014 where he walked 5 and 6.

Dude, he was just uninspired those games, too.

He obviously meant when Walker's actually trying, he's never walked 4 in a game. The hard part is that you don't know if he's trying until you read the box score.

Rondon health wise was fine so i have no problem bringing him in because the other option was Wood. Just didn't have his command in his 1st relief outing back happens. I have no concerns about him rest of the way though.

I seriously doubt this is true. At a minimum, I bet he was really sore. He was 2-3 mph lower than usual if you were watching the radar gun. He was 94-97 when he's usually 96-99. That makes an enormous difference when a guy's success is predicated on 1. really fast fastball, 2. slider.

He didn't pass the eye test either.

I have big concerns about Rondon especially since Strop is gone for a while. We're really lacking a strong, late game RHP option right now. Edwards got destroyed yesterday. Smith hasn't been good. Strop is hurt. Rondon might still be hurt. Hopefully this sorts itself out before the games start to matter again, or before our bullpen makes games matter that really shouldn't.

EDIT: ESPN's radar gun might've been running cold. Brooks Baseball says Rondon was at his usual velocity 97-99. He still didn't look quite right, imo, even disregarding the results.

probably because his command was all over the place. I have no idea why you would have concerns about Rondon given that if he's 100%. He's elite RH reliever.

Why on earth would you assume he's 100% when he's a 2x TJ surgery guy and was just out with a triceps injury and Maddon is on record saying he's going to baby him? That doesn't make any sense.

I meant this season. And he's only walked 19 all year, prior to his last start, and had one of the best BB/K ratios in baseball as well. So that was a safe assumption, and I did say ' I think'. Anyway, if the organization really does think he needs to work on some things, then I'm all for it. I'd like to see him add a back twist to his delivery, and work on deception some. Maybe add a 2 seamer so he's not such an extreme flyball pitcher. Also, would like to see improved offspeed stuff, he has a great FB, but would like to see him not rely on it as much.

P.S The back turn thing worked wonders for Felix, before he added that he was really struggling. Added it actually, half way through his 3rd or 4th season. And it was night and day.

Are you offended that a team other than the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, and Cards are being mentioned?

I'll take a split against the Cubs. We are now a 1/2 game up on the Marlins for the 2nd wild card. Next up is 2 in Houston before a weekend series in Philly.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
