Bruh you know Roger started his alleged steroid use as a Blue Jay right? There were no victims in the steroid era, rest assured they were on your team as well.

Agreed, Clemens was on it and so was Gregg Zaun and Shea Hillenbrand later on. The Jays had juicers for sure oh yeah, Mr. Canseco was on the Jays for a while too.

First of all, as a Cubs fan I reserve the right to panic over anything, large or small, in big games or in meaningless games.

Second, I'm fed up with the bullpen blowing winnable games. This has been a problem all year. Chapman shouldn't have even been needed in the nightcap. I know, cry me a river at 32 over .500, but I want to put this division on ice ASAP. The Brewers getting cheap homers, bloop hits, swinging bunts, and loading the bases in the 9th against the pen after doing absolutely nothing all day is unnecessary--our pythagorean W/L is actually 80-38 (5 games better than reality) if you can believe that--and Travis Wood has been bad this year like a lot of flameouts that we depended on in the bullpen (Grimm, Richard, Cahill, Warren and most of our new guys with Smith now on the DL). Wood's problem, imo, is that he's throwing his fastball way too much at the expense of his cutter/sinker. It's usage is up almost 20% from last season which means that 2 out of 3 pitches are going to be a straight fastball somewhere in the zone. Gee, I wonder what pitch I'm sitting on said Hernan Perez to himself last night.

A third point is that we've been pretty miserable lately with loading the bases and such and letting the other team wriggle out of it. So, yes, while sweeping a double header against a bad team is great on the surface, the team isn't really playing at a level that will win them many playoff games against quality teams.

Hitting more effectively w/RISP and getting decent innings from the non-Chapman bullpen are 2 big areas the Cubs will need to improve on to avoid a replay of the 2008 playoffs.

It kinda feels like every fan thinks there team stinks w/RISP. I also think the Cubs should use Montgomery more than Wood going forward as the 2nd lefty. Wood's peripherals suggested strong regression.

non chapman top 4 playoffs is Rondon, Strop, Grimm, Edwards and possibly add Cahill into that if he keeps improving. I dunno that's pretty solid.

I agree with your points but the whole "you have the right to panic big or small" and that fan mentality is what boggles my mind. I've been a Cubs fan since maybe '84 seen the good and bad as well as I'm sure you have, and I guess I'm just in a different mindset than the average "curses, panic and desperation" fan. Wasn't trying to come off crappy, I guess I read too many Facebook threads of people flat out ready to jump out a window because so and so gave up a run or so and so didn't drive in a run. Of course I want nothing more than a World Series win, but this is baseball, and anything is possible and who knows, maybe something magical happens. If not, well, you know what they say...I don't beleive in goats, don't blame Bartman and think the fanbase can be very annoying and needs to understand this team is not the teams of the past. I beleive this team is trying to change that culture and everyone should jump on even if they are stuck in the past. Thats all I wanted to say, by no means an attack on your fandom at all.

Can't get enough Donaldson, love that guy.

285/376/610 for a 160 wRC+ 52 HR, 156 RBI. How much is this guy going to get this offseason? Is it just a guarantee that he falls into Sloppi's spot or are the Jays going to step up on this one?

Well Rondon might still be recovering from an injury right now and Strop is a ways away from being healthy, so that's a pretty speculative group. Grimm has been pretty bad at times as well (he was spending time in AAA for that reason). Edwards hasn't been tested, but I think he'll be ok. That kind of underscores my point about the bullpen. We need these Montgomery/Smith guys to step in and contribute.

There's no excuse for the rash of bases loaded with no outs and not scoring a run situations.

I didn't take it that way. I was just trying to articulate, rationally, how a fan of a first place team can still be upset with their play.

The Jays recently restructured their ticket prices for next season and thus overall ticket prices will rise. They already have the 4th most expensive tickets in baseball. I'm hoping that was done in order to offset major expenditures for the coming years.

I'd love to see EE return but i'm not holding my breath considering the history of this ownership.

I really hope Toronto is ready to let Bautista walk at this point. You can afford to bring back EE, maybe take a chance on Saunders having another good year, if you aren't throwing any significant money at Bautista. Dickey comes off the books and they just traded for Liriano who has time left on his deal so you have a starting 5 already signed for next year in Sanchez, Happ, Stroman, Estrada, and Liriano. Toronto might need to fill a few spots, but if they wanted to, they'd be dumb not to at least offer him something fair but generous.

Anywhere but Boston... Man he would mash in Fenway for 81 games a year though, not like the Rogers Center (or really any AL East park ) is a pitchers park. I'm interested to see what a DH gets on the open market. He's 33, but him being an elite hitter, I mean we see Carlos Beltran, even Ortiz obviously. Is there any reason he can't produce reasonably all the way through a 4/5 year deal at DH? I'll be interested to see his market, and how the numbers play out for his deal.

V-Mart got 4/68 at 35, gotta think EE is gonna crush that. Talks start at... 5/100?

To me, if they thought Carlos Delgado and his offense was worth $19-$20 million a year over a decade ago, putting $20-$25 million into EE who is a lock for 30/100 is completely worth it in 2017.

The Astros really fell into a dumpster lately. After nearly pulling even with Texas, they're 9.5 games behind. 7-15 over their last 22 games.
