I saw the capacity of Progressive Field listed as 35,000 give or take. It's not like Municipal and its ilk of multipurpose venues from the 1970s; the latest generation of baseball-only stadiums have much reduced capacity. Generally 30-45K.

EDIT: Also most basketball venues are around 20K.

Cubs beasting on the Rockies. Bryant with another dinger (estimated 469 FT). Monty no-hitting the Rox through 4.

Nice to see the Jays win it tonight and it was good to see Osuna get back on his horse and get the horror show of last night out of the way.

I thought the plan in general was to skip his starts on off days. Having 2 off days in a 5 day timespan, thought they might have skipped this start, but guessing they'll probably skip his next one now since there's an off day on Monday.

Game couldn't have gone much better for the Cubs tonight. Only had to use Montgomery + Cahill to get thru the entire game. Bryant continues his MVP season with a homer and 4 more RBI. Montero and Zobrist both had much-needed nice games at bat. Incredibly tonight was Zorilla's 1st homer since the ASB.

I can't say I missed having Jason Heyward in the lineup tonight, either...

Second in the division, first in the Wild Card, Mookie is the MVP frontrunner.

                    Sneaky success.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Altuve, Donaldson, Betts, Trout...basically a pick 'em. Nobody is the front runner right now, imo, in the AL.

                      Gun to my head...

                      1a) Donaldson
                      1b) Altuve
                      2) Betts
                      3) Trout

That's not the order I'd put them in personally (I think I'd give it to Trout by a nose over Joseh Aldonaldtuveson), but this is what I think the powers that be would think. Trout gets hammered by the Angels' sorry record. Donaldson gets a boost for 1st place. Altuve's offensive numbers probably are the most impressive of the bunch. If the Astros make the playoffs, I think Altuve could come away with it. By any measure, it's a very close race and any one of them could grab it with a prolonged hot streak.

Jays send Sanchez to A ball.
Given his bad inning yesterday, they will skip his next start, have him in Dunedin(their A ball affiliate) which just happens to be where their rehab complex is. He won't pitch in A ball, but will still work out there for 10 days before returning to Jays in September.
