Another thing i noticed, and you touched on it in another thread, is the Yankees were going up hacking and trying to hit HR's. You saw the same thing in game 1 by the Red Sox. These are two teams that thrive on patience and waiting for their pitches. When they have longer at bats they tend to eventually see a pitch they can hit hard. The Yankees stopped doing this for some reason and the Red Sox started doing it much better.

First they talked about how A-Rod tried way to hard to be a "leader" instead of letting Jeter handle it (who they thought handled this year exceptionally well). They talked about things like how Jeter is always on the top step of the dugout after a good play is made...pumping his fist and shouting encouragement like a Captain does. Then they talked about how A-Rod would go right up there after Jeter got up and would try to do the same thing... coming off as a "phony" to some of the guys on the team...trying to emulate Jeter too much.

I generally despise those two, but I gotta agree with them on this... I would always see A-Rod next to Jeter on the top step of the dugout, and I would wonder why he did that. It does come across as contrived and fake.

Funny, there's a couple of articles in the Daily News saying how this team is slowly becoming like the Yankees of the late 80s and early 90s, when they were just throwing money at players. I'll link them below. Pretty good reads.

Hmmm, I wouldn't call Rodriguez standing on the steps next to Jeter fake.

I think it is Rodriguez trying to fit in. He understands the positive affects Jeter's "leadership" has had on the New York media. He just wants to be that guy that New York also loves.

I guess, while that may seem selfish, it isn't as selfish as Mike and the Mad Dog have made it out to be.

Somebody made a good point awhile ago, from simmons or the globe maybe, that the Yankees have finally built the same team that the Red Sox have been building for the last 85 years. Old pitching, big names, no chemistry, ineffective bullpen.

And Theo Epstein has built the Red Sox into the 1998 Yankees.

This is not news. People have been saying that the tables have been turned since the Sox got Schilling and the Yankees got Arod.

But all you ever heard about was how the Yankees "beat" the Red Sox by getting Arod. They were willing to go the extra mile for their team and the Red Sox weren't. I guess I have to agree with Pared when he said "But why does it take a disasterous collapse for everyone to all of a sudden reflect upon how they "didn't like this year's team?"

But, I do agree with you. It almost looked like they didn't have any heart. Much like the Braves, once they get to the playoffs.
