Originally posted by YankeePride_YPI can't speak for everyone else, but I haven't liked "this year's team" since they signed Jason Giambi.
I'm going to root for them because I love the Yankees, but it doesn't mean I agree with everything they do. Most of the time I hate everything they do.Comment

Originally posted by deeman11747Living in NY I of course listen to Mike and the Mad Dog daily. I really thought they had some interesting things to say in reaction to the Yankees losing.
First they talked about how A-Rod tried way to hard to be a "leader" instead of letting Jeter handle it (who they thought handled this year exceptionally well). They talked about things like how Jeter is always on the top step of the dugout after a good play is made...pumping his fist and shouting encouragement like a Captain does. Then they talked about how A-Rod would go right up there after Jeter got up and would try to do the same thing... coming off as a "phony" to some of the guys on the team...trying to emulate Jeter too much.
I generally despise those two, but I gotta agree with them on this... I would always see A-Rod next to Jeter on the top step of the dugout, and I would wonder why he did that. It does come across as contrived and fake.
Funny, there's a couple of articles in the Daily News saying how this team is slowly becoming like the Yankees of the late 80s and early 90s, when they were just throwing money at players. I'll link them below. Pretty good reads.

Re: A-Rod blasted on Mike & Mad Dog... and my final thoughts of the 2004 Yankees.
Hmmm, I wouldn't call Rodriguez standing on the steps next to Jeter fake.
I think it is Rodriguez trying to fit in. He understands the positive affects Jeter's "leadership" has had on the New York media. He just wants to be that guy that New York also loves.
I guess, while that may seem selfish, it isn't as selfish as Mike and the Mad Dog have made it out to be."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

But, I do agree with you. It almost looked like they didn't have any heart. Much like the Braves, once they get to the playoffs.Mario Kart Wii: 1203 9969 5095
