I'm beginning to see why the Indians haven't won a title in 68 years.

So if he pitches knowing he doesn't need to conserve energy, he's only going 5 or so, might lead to a more productive first 5 innings for him, and then hopefully Jays in good enough position to finish game with Liriano,Cecil,Osuna to shut down O's.
Or Gibby could employ the radical strategy of starting the southpaw who threw 6 shutout innings with 10K against the Orioles last week. Stroman had 12K in 23 IP against the O's this year.

    Baltimore vs LHP: .234 AVG (15th in AL), .301 OBP (14th), .391 SLG (15th)
    Baltimore vs RHP: .263 AVG (3rd in AL), .322 OBP (6th), .461 SLG (2nd)

This isn't difficult. The Orioles mash righties in general and Stroman in particular. Liriano owned them just 5 days ago. People who live outside the GTA bubble must be confused, to say the least.

Honestly, I think even people IN the GTA bubble are confused too.

Yea, I'm hoping Liriano is ready to go if necessary. With Happ and Sanchez likely the 1 and 2 starters if we get there, burn through whatever you have to.

        We'll see I guess.

Don't agree at all with the decision to go with Stroman. Liriano is the clear cut choice here. Ah well, see how it works out.

I think this is a classic case of overthinking it...I thought it was open/shut that Liriano was getting the ball in this one and just read they are going with Stroman. Baltimore doesn't hit lefties nearly as well as they hit righties, you have a pretty decent lefty, you go with the lefty. We'll see how it works out...

Keeping in mind Liriano's problems with control, I would still start him over Stroman. Orioles are the worst AL hitting team against lefties by both wRC+ and wOBA.

Not a fan of either team but I'll be cheering for the Jays tonight in this one game. Can't really make any predictions on how it will end up. I could easily see it going either way. Let's just hope for a good game.

Stroman is homer-prone and the O's are the best home run hitting team in baseball by a good margin. Good decision to start Stro!

So that means he'll shut them out, just watch. Ah, baseball...

Tilly's struggled at SkyDome and I'm pretty sure he's still not right from the shoulder issue, so he's not without blemishes either. I could see both pitching well despite what the experts think.

I think the Jays will win tonight, we need that Blue Jays/Rangers series to happen.

According to Commissioner Manfred the dome is likely going to be open tonight. Jays play a lot better at home when the roof is open.

Ya, no reason for it to be closed at all. It's close to 20C and no chance of rain. Rogers Centre rules for regular season state the roof can be open if it's above 15C and less than 45% chance of rain.

Jays are 6-2 vs the O's at the Rogers Centre when the roof is open(compared to 0-2 when it's closed). Jays 34-16 in general this year when the roof was open compared to 11-18 when it was closed. Being open for this game, even against O's(who obviously benefit from this too since they're a big HR team as well) will be huge for them.

The Jays only played 79 home games?

No, the other 2 were a combination of open and closed(meaning game started with roof being one way,and during the game it was either opened or closed)

Also, this will be the first time ever that the Rogers Centre/Skydome will be open for a playoff game! Last time Jays played a home game outside a dome in general was the 1985 season at Exhibition Stadium(memories that Jays fans obviously do want to forget)

You can throw all open/closed splits out the window iwhen discussing a 1-game winner takes all playoff game.
