    Re: All Time Teams

I'm not a Dodger fan, but I am from L.A. so that is good enough in my book. Besides, the Dodgers have been so pitching rich this should be fun.

    Starters

    Sandy Koufax
    Don Drysdale
    Don Sutton
    Orel Hershiser
    Fernando Valenzuela
(All home grown talent and I even had to leave off Don Newcombe)

    Middle Relief
    Mike Marshall
    Tom Niedenfuer
    Steve Howe (between drug binges)
    Jim Brewer
    Charlie Hough
    Ron Perranoski

    Closer

Geylord Perry over Andy Benes, and don't forget Randy Meyers actually had one good stint in SD other than the 98-99 one.

The fair thing to do here to only consider guys who spent the bulk of their career with the All-Time team you are listing them on. Randy Myers was only with the Padres for a fraction of the time he was actually in the league. And again, Gaylord Perry was only with the Padres for two years.

                    Re: All Time Teams

the last spot between Benes and Perry was hard to decide, but Benes spent more time with the team than Perry. To me, the time they've been in is a small factor unless they're one of the more recent players... like Jake, you could switch him out for Perry because he only had one good year.

To be honest I would take either Hurst or Ashby over Benes. Benes was a sub .500 pitcher in San Diego and he always thought he was better than he actually was.
