    Breakout players 2017

I'm already itching to get this season started. Why not talk about players we think are ready for a breakout season.

Byron Buxton comes to mind immediately, I really think he puts it all together next year, if he can stay on the field. Nearing the end of last year he really began to display why he was so hyped as a prospect. A true five tool player.

I am also surprisingly itchy for the new season, about 4 months ahead of schedule for me.

Anyway, I'd highlight the following guys:

    Dansby Swanson
    Robbie Ray
    Greg Bird
    Andrew Benintendi
    Alex Bregman
    Jameson Taillon

I kind of struggle with these lists because it's usually just "find top prospects who are finally getting their shot" types. It's boring but those are 6 of the ones I'll be eyeballing

For some reason I think Byung Ho Park is going to go mental this year and hit 30 homers. I have absolutely nothing to back this up, I just think he's got ridiculous power and some time away might have helped him adjust.

Hope your right about Bird, it will be nice to have him and Sanchez clicking through that lineup.

          The Red Sox rotation

          Porcello
          Sale
          Price
          Rodriguez
          Pomeranz

And not a single sign of Clay Buchholz. I honestly think this year's rotation could be mentioned as one of the top rotations assembled.

Yea, if Porcello, Price, and Sale do what they are capable of doing, they are going to be right up there.

James Paxton. He has the stuff to be dominant with his 100 MPH heater and wipe out slider. I don't think the M's have had a LHP with his kind of stuff since Randy Johnson. Pax was unhittable in stretches last season. I don't think a sub 3 ERA with 10+ K P/9 is out of the question for him... If he can stay healthy, which is a huge IF with him.

Edwin Diaz is another one from the Mariners. Kid is filthy, 102 MPH heat combined with an unhittable slider. He will be regarded as a top 3-5 closer in baseball by years end, especially if he maintains his 15+ K/9. Sub 2 ERA with 120ish K's, not out of the question. Only concern with him is that he had bouts of wildness at times, which is strange since he had a 4:1ish K:BB ratio.

Those are unfortunately the only 2 young guys we have that I can see having huge breakout years. Unless Zunino has figured something out or a prospect comes out of nowhere.

                  Byron Buxton.

Kid had an awesome September...I really hope it continues next year.

I also think Trea Turner will continue his good play.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

James Paxton is not close to Randy Johnson. Let's see a couple 30-start seasons from him before we start comparing him to HoFers.

I can very easily see him making a leap this year, but not to Big Unit stature. Not quite.

Wilson Contreras for the Cubs could see 20+ HR, maybe approach an .800 OPS from the catcher spot.

D'Backs rotation is gonna bounce back in a major way in 2017... Way too good of a top 4.

                        Greinke
                        Ray
                        Walker
                        Miller

Jake Lamb (Gonna go back to the player he was in the 1st half 2016)
Brandon Drury (Gonna prove he's for real)
Robbie Ray (Become a TOR SP so Greinke can be traded)
