    AL/NL Managers of the Year

Baseball's Managers of the year were named today, the awards went to:

    AL: Buck Showalter, Texas Rangers.

    NL: Bobby Cox, Atlanta Braves.

While i can agree with the choice of Buck Showalter in the AL (though i think Terry Francona deserved more votes then he got (8), after all he DID do something no other Red Sox manager had been able to do for the past 86 years!). I thought Phil Garner should have won NL MOY, after all he took an Astros team that was 10 games back in the NL wildcard race at the allstar break and got them to within one game of the world series.

The runner up's were Ron Gardenhire of the Twins and Tony LaRussa of the Cardinals.

Phil Garner.. manager of the year?

So, umm.. You take into account Francona's postseason success.. so did you take into account Garner's managing woes in the playoffs?

Anyway - you can't take anything away from Bobby Cox, as he did deserve the award. The team the Braves put out there this past year really didn't have as much talent as a lot of ball clubs, but were still able to go out and win the division relatively easily. No matter what kind of team he has, Cox always finds a way to win.

MOY votes are done before the playoffs so the postseason isn't factored in. These were no brainer choices tho I think La Russa should've gotten more votes.

I'm surprised LaRussa did not get closer but as a Cardinals fan, Cox deserved to win.
