I hope St. Louis has to deal with no-hitter-quality Jake Arrieta tonight and not the ho hum version.

LOL. I've heard of the 58 foot pitch before, but that went about 15 feet.

Heyward jams himself on a pitch over the plate but muscles it out of the infield. Can't believe this guy is making $184M

Gary Sanchez has been swinging like he's going for #60. And now that he's trying to relax his swing, he's pressing.

The lesson here, kids: ease into the season instead of thinking you're riding a wave from 6 months ago.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Wow. Piscotty put on base by HBP. Then was hit on the elbow by a throw while advancing to 2nd. Then hit in the head by Baez's throw while scoring. Talk about earning your run the hard way.

That was ****ing ridiculous by Almora. And a direct impact on the game result as of now. My goodness.

After an absolutely disastrous April in 2016, it's good to see Ken Giles get off to a good start this year.

He's struck out 5 in 2 innings while allowing just one hit and notching 2 saves.

So much good stuff happening tonight. RBI triple for Trout, Martin Maldonado absolutely guns two runners out, one throwing back to first the other at second, Goldschmidt on the board with a HR, Jed Lowrie playing excellent defense + a homer himself, Shoemaker had a really solid outing after his heinous injury, Cody Allen strikes out the side to shut down the Rangers, Ken Giles on fire, reviewed finish in the Cubs/Cardinals game.

I don't know if I've just happened to see the majority of bad calls, but umpires have been really bad so far behind the plate.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.
