I'll be at the Phillies home opener today. Hoping for a good game from Vince Velasquez. Max Scherzer on the mound for the Gnats so definitely won't be many runs today.

Two teams with the same disparaging nickname? I'd only ever heard gnats used when it referred to SF, usually from Dodgers fans.

Tebow looked like he was surprised he hit a ball that far by the way he ran the bases.

I've seen worse swings in professional baseball, but his is a bit rough. He does bar out by loading his hands away from his body rather than rowing his elbow back, but at least his hands try to move forward first rather than completely swinging from back there.

If Jason Heyward could swing like that, it'd be a vast improvement.

Speaking of Tebow, I don't know if anyone saw the segment but Amsinger, Reynolds and Plesac were talking about Tebow's HR and how he's doing. Plesac was very much impressed by the fact that Tebow seems to really want to make this baseball thing work and that he's improved greatly from the first day of spring training to now. Reynolds mostly agreed. Here's where the segment got weird and "gasp!" ol' Hal actually made a point I agree with. Amsinger's all "Tebow is going to do great etc etc" and insinuated that Tebow can go back to his TV work in the offseason and play baseball next year with no issue. Reynolds made the point that Tebow lost 10 years of baseball and he still needs to work at his craft and get better. You can't do 250 swings a day during the season. That's the kind of stuff you do in the offseason. Basically, Tebow has to be 100% committed to baseball and not half *** it.

Amsinger is a pretty good host but boy, does he get caught up in the hype and his own beliefs a little too much.

Tito is/was convinced MJ could've made it to the majors if he gave it another 2 years. I'm not making the point that Tebow is MJ but rather that a player's dedication and willingness to adjust can go a long way.

Hey Beantown..... you can take Buchholz back any time now. He's picking it up right where he left off in ST. If he never got boo'd in Boston, it's only a matter of (short) time in Philly. We'll throw in Adam Morgan too. No reason to give up a HR to an opposing pitcher not named "Mad Bum"!

Nah we'll take Crawford and Buckles for 2 tubs of Hubba Bubba bubble gum.

Braves are making inroads....5-2, runners at 2nd and 3rd, only one out.

Now 5-4 as Philips knocks in those two off Hudson.

Meanwhile Panda takes K-Rod deep for a 3 run shot to give Boston the lead.

Vince Velasquez has 10K's through 4 innings. He's allowed 4 runs, but the stuff is pretty impressive.
