Lately the pitching has been really solid. Folty, while up and down, has really been good lately. Garcia, outside of a few poor outings, has been good all year. Newcomb has been great since his callup. Dickey has been really solid lately. Teheran is the only one who has consistently been pretty bad. I guess the good news is there is pitching on the farm?

I didn't mean new stadium in Tampa would be great, but others say that if stadium was in better location that it'd help. I meant relocation though.
Yes..... They'd be my 2nd fave team and all games would be on tv here.Comment

The thing is, Teheran is a 5.3 pitcher this year. That's poor even for the number 5 guy.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Moving to Montreal won't make the Rays good. They'll still be the same bad to below average team. Sure, during the first season Montreal will be all "Yay, we got the Expos back!" but after they lose 90 games, the attendance will again begin to deplete.Boston Red Sox

It's not like drafting/developing has ever been a problem with the Rays organization, it's always just been about keeping guys that they haven't done. Keeping those guys around while giving them close to double their usual budget will lead to much different results.Comment

So apparently the replay guys borrowed their eyes from Stevie Wonder today. Haniger was clearly and CONCLUSIVELY safe at home, yet they say he's out. Then Angel Hernandez gives the safe sign for some reason, even though according to the guys in NY, who I'm sure the Astros provided a good escort service to, said he was out.
If we lose this by 1 or in extras this one is on the incompetent umps.Last edited by Godgers12; 06-25-2017, 04:20 PM.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Not exactly. They'll have a different ownership group with much different mentality. And most importantly, they won't be having a payroll of like 60M or something. In the 100M for sure, especially if they get Bell(the rival company of Rogers, the owner of the Jays) as one of their owners.

Re: 6/12 - 6/25 Game Discussion Thread
I think ANY sports team in Florida is a fools paradise. A good deal of the population doesn't have a loyalty to the state, about half the population lives in a retirement home. And there is so much more to do in Florida than go to a sporting event. You have world class beaches open year round, and a great nightlife scene. It's not just the Rays, pretty much EVERY sports team that calls Florida home struggles with attendance to put it politely, because there are hardly any loyal sports fans who were born and raised in Florida. And the ones they do have can easily find something else cheaper and just as fun to do. If I were an owner,Florida would be the LAST place in the US I would move to, yes including Alaska and Hawaii, and that is solely due to the fanbase or lack thereof.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

MLB has Marlins and Rays
NHL has Panthers and Lightning
NFL has Bucs,Dolphins,Jags
NBA has Heat,Magic
Of those teams, the Rays(30th in attendance),Jags(7th worst in attendance),Panthers(5th worst in attendance) all should probably be relocated. That's a third of the Florida pro sports teams that should be moved. If the Jags moved, would that really hurt football popularity in Florida? If Rays/Panthers moved, would they hurt those sports popularities either? Or might fans of those teams just go cheer for the other Florida team left.
I don't think moving those teams would really hurt the Florida sports market at all in those respective leagues. Fans would just cheer for the other Florida team most likely while fans of a new city get a team.
That'd be like having two of the same Pizza places on the same block. One gets decent amount of customers, the other barely any. Would moving the less popular place to a diff location hurt business? Probably not, as customers of the lesser visited place would go to the only existing one, while people in that relocated area now get to experience it for themselves and drive up business.Last edited by Majingir; 06-25-2017, 05:15 PM.Comment

Re: 6/12 - 6/25 Game Discussion Thread
Those teams have really bad attendance because they're really ****ty teams. The team improves, the attendance improves.
That exact same rule applies if a team moves to a different city. If the team is bad, nobody is gonna want to pay to watch them in person.
Let's not forget that relocating a team gets rid of a LOT of jobs in that city. So it's about more than "Oh, nobody comes so let's relocate". That is a part of it, but that isn't it.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 06-25-2017, 05:17 PM.Boston Red Sox

Re: 6/12 - 6/25 Game Discussion Thread
Similar with Panthers in the NHL, their attendance sucks regardless how they do.
Jaguars you could make argument for that though since they did have good attendance in the 90s when they were good, but it still wasn't so good when they had promise in the mid 00s(4 straight seasons finishing with 8-12 wins).
Sure, people working there at the building might lose jobs, but you also gain abut the same amount of jobs in the relocated place. It's business, isn't it best to make moves to maximize profits? Having multiple teams in an undersaturated market while leaving out other markets which could benefit from a team doesn't sound like best way to maximize things.Last edited by Majingir; 06-25-2017, 05:24 PM.Comment

Re: 6/12 - 6/25 Game Discussion Thread
The Rays weren't exactly thriving in attendance during their world series year and following year either. 23,000 was their best attended season. Even if the relocated team struggles, don't you think they'll get over 20,000?

Re: 6/12 - 6/25 Game Discussion Thread
But still, it'd require that team struggling for a long time for them to even get into Rays current attendance situation. If the team is even half decent, it's already better than a great Rays team.Comment

You're right, I'll bow out. If a team that has made 4 postseason appearances in 20 years of existence moved to a different city, their attendance would automatically skyrocket and stay better than it was in Tampa.Boston Red Sox
