I've said it before but I really am worried that the Cards are going to try and salvage this season and trade away prospects to try and get to the playoffs.

Here's hoping the Jays can do well in what is the make it or break it portion of their schedule with both NYY and Boston cooling off a bit they need to make a move. Let's see if they can continue to gain some offense against the O's starting tomorrow.

On the potential trade front there was an article recently talking about two names that have cropped up in connection the Jays in the form of Howie Kendrick and Jed Lowrie. The article suggested instead of going just for one of them that the Jays should try and acquire both. They would fill two pressing needs right now with Kendrick in LF and Lowrie at 2B.

Depends what direction they go. If they rebuild, then obviously trade like that is pointless.

They do need a rebuild, but I'll hate it so much as I'm sure many will. Asking a fanbase waiting 20 years for a good team again, who finally had 2 nice playoff runs, to wait several more years? All while seeing Encarnacion, Bautista, Donaldson, Tulo, Martin and others gone in a 2 year span? This will gut the team and fan interest like it did in mid 90s.

It depends on how this stretch leading up to the ASG goes but the feeling is that Shapiro/Atkins wants to take one last kick at the can and the way the division is starting to shake out they may be right to do so. I think some of the "the cupboard is bare" talk is a bit overblown. The Jays are brimming with some great talent though they're probably 2 years away at the earliest which also reinforces the "go for it" now mentality. By the time the Jays are ready to do a full rebuild some of those kids will be ready for the big leagues.
