11th delay at home this year in 43ish games. Don't have a clue how many we had last year.

When scoring 5 or fewer the Brewers are 19-37.

        They're just 4-6 when they score 5.

Absolutely no way they hold off the rest of the division.

Cubs-Braves with the first pitch after 2h30min rain delay.

At least we already know the Brewers lost again before game time. Won't be long now...plucky little team but still a couple years away.

This is why I don't think the Braves are a true Wild Card contender. We have no pitching. We're stuck throwing out guys like Newcomb who shouldn't be up yet.

Willy takes Newcomb out to dead center for a 3-run bomb and a 4-1 lead. This game is playing out pretty much like last night. Braves pitching is just meh. Now if Lackey can just keep the ball in the park...

I actually hope Lackey gets hit around, but the Cubs still win. He just doesn't have it this year and the FO needs to replace him before the deadline passes.

Cubs announcer just said Harper and Trout both homered in the 1st inning tonight. That's awesome

Doesn't look he will. This looks like a series where the Braves are just going to play poorly all around. It's early in this game, but outside of the 9th last night I don't recognize these hitters and their approaches at the plate. That plus the awful fielding so far and this may be an easy sweep. When even Inciarte looks bad at the plate AND in the field, something is wrong.

Michael Wacha pitched a gem tonight.

Wonder if we can just continue to play the Mets?

We've seen enough, just take Newcomb out, please. This is still winnable at this point if the bats wake up, but for the love of the game take Newcomb out, have someone drive him to the airport, and send him to Gwinnett where he belongs.

So after that last Contreras homer (dude has been on fire for about 3 weeks), I looked at his MLB stats so far and it's nice to see how consistent he's been overall...

                              2016: .282/.357/.488, 12 HR, 35 RBI, .206 ISO, .339 BABIP, 2.2 WAR, 76 games (283 PA)

                              2017: .275/.339/.487, 13 HR, 48 RBI, .212 ISO, .335 BABIP, 2.5 WAR, 84 games (299 PA)

Plus he's playing at a Gold Glove level behind the dish: 31% caught stealing (miraculous for this pitching staff) and he's rated the best catcher (+9.6 DRAA) in defensive value per FanGraphs.

If he keeps it up, Willy might be the heir to Buster Posey as the best all-around catcher in baseball.

Dodgers make it 10 in a row for the second time this season. Won 30 of our last 34 games.
