Upcoming series vs. the Cards should be fun - they're just two games behind the Cubs. Regardless of what may be better for the organization in the long run (as I've so often heard talked about around here in MO this year), I doubt the team itself is just going to roll over for the Cubs when they're that close in the standings.

That Braves/Dodgers pitching preview is hilarious. You can add all 4 of their starters ERAs up and it's still better than the Braves best pitcher.

7 Frames James aka Big Maple aka James Paxton held the dangerous Astros lineup to 1 R over 7 innings!

Pulling for Moncada to have a good debut. I wish Red Sox could have given up Groome and Devers instead of him. I don't think we have a loser on this deal tho win win so far. Still don't believe Moncada eats 85 twinkees a week and looks way he does lol.

didn't the Braves just sweep a good Dbacks team? anyways the opponent doesn't really matter to me... Addison, Baez, Heyward, Contreras getting hot is huge.

Bartolo Colon said his next start against the Dodgers will determine if he retires or not. All of it will based on how he does in his next start obviously.

Can't it be both though? I don't think any reasonable baseball fan will argue against what this Cubs team is capable of. First, it was it's just Baltimore, wait until they play this great/hot up-and-comer of a Braves team. So they make mincemeat of said Braves (outscore them 17-6 in Atlanta while dealing with rain delays and leaving Tom, Dick, and Harry on base each inning) and what if they continue rolling by blasting St. Louis this weekend? At what point do the Cubs become a good team again?

Strange, but I wouldn't expect any less from a player that's been so unique.

I'm the one that has been saying the Braves aren't that good the entire time, so beating them and the Orioles means nothing to me. Sweeping the Cards to go to 9 straight will be impressive, but it won't have me thinking the Cubs are back in last season form. Obviously they have the potential to be a good team, but at this point in the year they have not earned that title.

They caught a slumping Arizona team that's alright, not that great.

Given the kind of year he's had so far retirement isn't that far away. I hope he sticks it out through the rest of the year, but I wouldn't blame him if another bad outing sends him on his way.

To be fair, retirement hasn't been far away for him since maybe 2008. He's this generation's Satchel Paige, minus all the racial stuff. I'd like to see him pitch until he's 50. Of course it depends more on what he wants than what I want.

Given the state of pitching in baseball and constant tear-downs and rebuilds going on, surely he can keep finding a team he fits on each year.

We've seen it before where a defending champ, who's expected to dominate, sleep walks through most of the season before turning it on.

I'll be shocked if the Cubs don't crank it up at some point to take the division and then give the Dodgers all they can handle in the playoffs.

J.D. Martinez has already been removed from the Dbacks game with a hand injury.
