Didn't see it, but if the catcher had to jump, I'd guess the umpire considered the throw taking him into the lane which would nullify the rule.

That's my guess even though before the jump he was plainly blocking the plate and he jumped straight up and landed in the same spot blocking the entire plate.

I can't stand that rule because it's so difficult to enforce properly

I'm not a fan of it either. I get that it makes sense to make the catcher unable to block the whole plate considering you can't block any other base, but I don't see a great way to set up rules for it. The only thing I can think of at the moment, and it's probably a terrible idea, is using more chalk to create a designated area the catcher must be in when fielding the throw at the plate.

              I can make lists also.

              Phillies

              Joaquin Benoit.
              Luis Garcia.
              Jeremy Hellickson.
              Adam Morgan.
              Hector Neris.
              Pat Neshek.
              Cameron Rupp.
              Tommy Joseph.
              Andres Blanco.
              Freddy Galvis.
              Cesar Hernandez.
              Ty Kelly.
              Brock Stassi.
              Daniel Nava.
              Clay Buchholz.
              Casey Fien.
              Howie Kendrick.

You could make a list like this for every rebuilding team in the game. If these teams consisted of only players they are keepng for the future, they probably would be good already or would be bad for all eternity.

This Cubs-Cardinals series should be a good measuring stick for both teams. St. Louis with a flurry of activity, adding Grichuk, Duke, and Carson Kelly to the squad, seems to be loading up for this series.

The Cubs will be in the Chicago/Milwaukee area through August 6th...STL (home), CWS (home/away), MIL (away), ARZ (home), WAS (home). And when they do go back on the road again, the schedule gets considerably softer.

Wow. Baez getting the start at 3rd for the injured KB17 and he made a tough short hop look ridiculousy easy right there. Can't teach that. Not even Tom Emanski.

Willy takes Carlos Martinez out for an early 2-0 lead. Contreras is a man on fire right now. Good lord.

More of McCarthy just lobbing BP out there until he was pulled.

Carson Kelly grew up across the street from my last home. Crazy to see him taking big league at bats now.
