The Chicago Cubs have named former Florida Marlins broadcaster Len Kasper as their play-by-play announcer, replacing Chip Carey, who has gone on to the Braves, Kasper joins recently hired Bob Brenly, who replaces Steve Stone as baseball analyst during Cub broadcasts.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will name former New York Yankees broadcaster Charley Steiner as their new radio (and part-time t.v. fill in) play-by-play announcer on monday, steiner replaces the recently fired Ross Porter. Most people will remember Steiner from his days at ESPN, which included my favorite Sportscenter commercial ever-the Y2k commercial in which there is total chaos in the backround and then Steiner appears, wearing a necktie around his head and holding a lantern and says "Follow me!, follow me to freedom!". Classic!.
On a side note, Eric Karros turned down a chance to become a radio analyst for the Dodgers, Karros says he hopes to sign with a team and have a chance to play next season.
