    Kapler off to Japan!

    News
Scratch Gabe Kapler off your fantasy cheat sheets for next spring. The free agent outfielder spent 2004 with the world champion Red Sox, but has agreed to a one-year contract to play in Tokyo for the Yomiuri Giants. Kapler batted .272 in just 290 at-bats as a part-time player for the BoSox.

Guess no Kapler in a Jays uniform then.

Why in the world would he go and do this?

Seriously, I bet a good number of teams would liked to have Kapler on their rosters..

There is a difference between being on the roster and getting to play every day, your right, a lot of teams would have liked to have him, but the question is to start or be backup. I would have liked to see him stay with the Red Sox, but if Trot Nixon is healthy, finding playing time for Kevin Millar and Doug Mientkiewicz (assuming neither one gets traded) and with David Roberts as the 4th OF, Kapler's playing time would have been significantly reduced. Maybe the Yomiuri Giants offerd him a chance to start on a regular basis. Who Knows!. I say good luck to him!.

Although - David Roberts has said publicly that he wants to move on to another team where he can play everyday..
