    His mechanics went out of whack around the All-Star break, and since Mel Stottlemyre is one of the worst pitching coaches in baseball, he was never able to work out his problems.

      New York does not need to make this deal. They'll be in the same situation next year, trying to find themselves some pitching because RJ retired. It doesn't make any sense why anyone would want Randy Johnson.
