He wasn't too too bad last year though he's become more of a 5-6 inning starter these days.

Pirates released him after they acquired Dickerson.

Well, if Gardy can undo time and undo Liriano's injury, then I'd say he knows the secret. Liriano has never been the same, despite some good seasons, since that injury. He was electric as a rookie in 2006...paired with Johan that was a beastly 1-2 punch.

The National League west is going to be competitively fun this year.

I'm expecting that and especially the NL Central to be fun, too.

All they've done this offseason is sign a few relievers.

Well the Reds did have one of if not the worst bullpen last season.

As unbelievable as it sounds, the Giants' bullpen actually may have been worse. Lopez and Affeldt retired, Smith had TJ, Melancon merely survived with a pronator strain, Casilla and Romo dealt out... we were nothing like our 2016 bullpen looked. Putting the home park factor into play, I guarantee the Giants had the worst bullpen last year.

That being said, the Reds then were probably 29th and need to beef up. Don't know why they're attempting to do anything to contend, though. They best be shipping Votto out before the trade deadline, if Votto allows for it (I believe he has a clause in his contract).

My problem isn't that they tried to fix that need. It's that adding those relievers has been the extent of their actions in the offseason.
