As crazy of an opinion as this may sound, the more I think about a potential trade of Stanton to the Cardinals and what all we would have to give up, I'm hoping he's traded elsewhere.

I'm wondering if the Cardinals will still inquire about Josh Donaldson of the Blue Jays.

What would you offer for Stanton?

Bet either Beni or X are involved from Boston if they get him

You know CB, I agree with you 100%. Stanton is "kinda" like the signing of ARod by Texas a few years back. Texas nabbed ARod for his age 25 season, not 28. Even if you could get 13 more seasons out of him with solid numbers to his age 40 season to justify what is being paid out for him, it is what you would give up and what is tied up. I can see a team looking to get out of his contract after 3 seasons, like the Rangers did. Out of curiosity, what do you see as the Cardinals biggest need and do you like any free agent in this year's class?

Cardinals need bullpen help and a big bat in the lineup.

I like Moustakas and Hosmer. Both would be assets to our lineup that won't break the bank I don't believe. I'd prefer Moustakas because he can play third and Carpenter to move to first. Hosmer would move Carpenter to third.

I don't want to sell the farm to get a big time guy. I'm not cut from that mold I guess. Build within and sign a good/great free agent to patch holes.

I really don't want to give up young arms either because you may lose Lynn, Wainwright is declining, and Wacha hasn't returned to old form.

Stanton has an opt out after 3 years and 77 more I think.

Not to mention the Marlins will have to eat a bunch of the deal anyway.

I'd trade for Stanton and wouldn't think twice.

Rumor has it... Brewers making starting pitching #1 priority, main focus is Arrieta.

If the Marlins trade Stanton to Boston they will definitely have to pay a high price, one which i'm not sure i'd want to pay honestly.

Saw a headline a couple days ago about injury to Cardinals' Stanton and I thought "it is happening" only to realize it was an NFL headline and not news about Giancarlo Stanton and the St. Louis baseball Cardinals. lol

I was dreaming of Hosmer to the Rockies, but it won't happen if he wants more than $195, and I don't mean million. Need to save those pennies for when Arendado needs paid.

So you don't want Hosmer for a hundred and ninety-five bucks?

Personally, I'd like to have Hosmer in Boston. He's young, Moreland is a free agent, and Hanley isn't getting any younger.
