Evan Marshall, Neil Ramirez, and Brandon Barnes have been picked up by the Indians on minor league deals.

Niko Goodrum has signed with the Tigers

Brad Boxberger traded to the DBacks for Curtis Taylor.

Braves will try to trade Matt Adams before tomorrow's non-tender deadline. Otherwise he'll be non-tendered if they can't find a taker.

What was that move about in the first place? Carpenter can't play third base. Matt Adams had lost weight before the beginning of last season. He plays a good first base. I didn't see how he ended up here in Atlanta.

We didn't have a spot for him. Carpenter was slated to play first base and we just didn't have AB's for Adams.

So we traded him for beans.

Angels acquire Jim Johnson from the Braves for minor leaguer Justin Kelly.

Angels also picked up International bonus pool money

I'm surprised AA was able to get rid of that POS.

The Giants front office is meeting with Giancarlo Stanton's reps. The Marlins said they would accept the Giants offer of Joe Panik and 2 prospects of Tyler Beede and Chris Shaw if the Giants take on $250 million of Stanton's salary.

Of course the Marlins would accept that package...who wouldn't.

Some circles consider it a low ball offer, but it's all predicated on weather or not the Giants take on $250 million of Stanton's contract.

Today is the non-tender deadline (8pm est). We could see a couple of trades today (Matt Adams, and Mike Fiers) and a new set of players to hit the open market. Ohtani will be posted today as well. Any predictions?

Hopefully the stove will heat up tonight.

For the longest time I felt that Ohtani would wind up with the Yankees. But now, for whatever reason, I'm thinking he winds up in Seattle. I have no real reason to say that, other than its just a gut feeling.

                              Ohtani...

MLB.com’s Jon Morosi tweets that executives from multiple teams are of the belief that Ohtani’s preference is to sign in a market that does not already have an established Japanese star, though Ohtani’s agents at CAA have not commented on that possibility. Morosi also spoke to one of Ohtani’s teammates in Japan, former big leaguer Brandon Laird, who offered a similar suggestion (Twitter link): “I feel like he just wants to come and not be compared to other guys who have already been here — to start fresh on his own, show what he can do by himself.”

Come to Toronto Ohtani! He would be able to establish himself the way he wants AND get some very lucrative media and endorsement deals.
