What they should do is give him the Clemente treatment.

You said he's not a Hall of Famer, but liked my post about him going into the Hall of Fame the year after his death...

But I will be surprise if he makes into the Hall of Fame.
Roy Halladay was Greg Maddux with half as many innings thrown. Maddux career ERA+ was 132, Halladay 131. Halladay is a HOF'r, period.

Him dying won't impact IF he gets into the HOF, but it probably impacts WHEN he gets in.

Not just because he died, but also because of the amount of talk about him because of this. Having players past and present praising him so much, you never realized just how many people admired him around the baseball world outside of just where he played. Face it, a guy with the stuff he did, had they played in LA or NY or something, would be a lock for HOF in first or 2nd year at most of eligibility.

Being one of baseballs most dominant pitchers for a decade, majority of that career in one of the biggest hitter friendly ballparks in baseball(and lets not forget that as bad as Jays were, that also meant the Yankees and Red Sox were so great, so those were the guys he had to regularly face) , going up against so many * guys, a Cy Young in BOTH leagues, perfect game, playoff no hitter. Obviously I can go on and on, but it's all basically same types of stuff everyone has been saying about him for years.

As I said in a previous post Halladay is the bridge between the old school era of starters finishing what they started and cranking out big 240+ innings a year compared to what we have now. He's going to go into the HOF even if he didn't die. It may not have been 1st ballot but he won't have long to wait. The fact that he died so tragically has built the momentum to honor him as soon as possible.

I agree with others, he deserves the Clemente treatment.

Service open to the public will be happening at 4pm EST on Tuesday. Don't know about MLB.com or MLBN, but I know in Canada they're airing stuff from there.

I was misty eyed through most of that ceremony. At least there were some fun stories that gave some levity. That whole Amazon River story from Carpenter was pretty amusing.

Yikes, that's pretty sad to know that Halladay could've been saved if those people weren't so focused on filming the crash site. That's the dark underbelly of what technology can do.
