Mets top Red Sox offer for Pedro

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1934787

You would think this would be a team that would shy away from big money/long term contracts (due to other signings that haven't panned out) but it's not the case.

If Pedro signs with the Mets, he's basically saying he has no interest in winning another championship or even playing in the playoffs.

I am a Met fan, I do admit this is alot of money. However he is an major upgrade to there piching staff. Also if they are willing to pay him that much money what makes you think they won't Sign Sexon or Beltran? Remember
the fact that he has not been seen by alot of National Leauge hitters is a huge plus. That being said I think he will stay a Red Sox. I would rather see them get alesser pithcher and go hard after Beltrane.

I really do hope Pedro signs with them, that way the Jays dont have to deal with him on a regularily basis.

I'm a huge Mets fan and even though it seems like a lot of money, I would do this in a heratbeat, Pedro, Glavine, Benson, for my top 3, thats seems ok with me, plusTrachsel and Zambrano rounding of the last two spot in the roatation, that may not look so bad.

It is highly unlikely you will ever see Pedro pitching in the NL again.

He'd have to swing a bat, and that's not going to happen. Pedro's a guy known for pitching inside and even brushing back a player or two. Pitching in the NL would make him think twice about delivering some chin music, because he'll eventually have to step in that batter's box.

Sully I really don't think that would matter to him at all, don't forget about the money part.

Ehh, don't listen to the media all the time. Pedro really doesn't brush guys back a lot. That knockdown pitch to Matsui in the playoffs may have been the second one he threw all year. The only batter he intentionally hit all season was Sheffield after he stepped out during Pedro's delivery. He hit a fair number of batters but a lot of them were on curveballs or tailing fastballs when he was struggling with his command (a major contributor to that 3.90 ERA). Still, because of his past reputation (and the Karim Garcia incident in '03) he'd probably have to worry about brushback pitches at times because when he hits someone people will often assume it was on purpose, which often isn't the case anymore. Like I said, his command of the strike zone really went downhill last season.

Pedro is a lot of things, but scared isnt one of them....im sure hes fully aware that when he hits someone, he will get thrown at..its not the end of the world....i, for one, would love to go see him pitch at Shea a few times next year and beyond
