    Giants persueing Finley Hard

Just read in the San Francisco Chronicle (the largest newspaper in Northern Cali) that the Giants are persueing Finley hard. Sabean said they hadn't persued a free agent so tightly in a lot of years. Report say it is the Giants and Tigers as the front runners for Finley. Giants are also trying to get Jermaine Dye as insurance. Hopefully he lands with the G-Men

I sure hope that they land him, but is Grissom gone? I want to make sure that they don't have starters play a bench role like they have been doing lately with players, trade them off, they cost more money.

Dye would be a great addition to the team. I want Finley to land with the Tigers though. Would make a great addition and make their lineup even stronger.

I really think that Detroit will end up with Finley and Jeff Kent, plus a pitcher like Derek Lowe. They have said they are willing to overspend to get quality, vets, so this would be a perfect fit.

Dye just signed with White Sox. Grissom is still here, if they land Finley they will move Grissom to right.

Finley is a west coast guy and i would be surprised if the Tigers offered a large amount of money more than the Giants offer. Finley will get a fat paycheck form either teams.

Playing in RF would certainly be easier on Grissoms' legs, but he'd have to learn all the wierd bounces and corners. I'd platoon him out there with Mohr, if he's still around.

Question to those who have more knowledge then I do. At the end of the season I heard Sabean say that mainly they would be looking to tie up contracts. Where has this money come from?
