    Re: Wright is gone

ESPN saw it as more than a rumor. They said the doctors found signs of arm damage in the MRI but the issue of whether the physical was failed or not was up to the interpretation of the doctors.

I agree with you that the system is flawed, but taking advantage of a flawed system then blaming that system is a cop-out. Just say, we got lots of money we need to win and that's what we're going to do... don't try and justify things, it's irritating...

In the meantime, spend away Skanks... your lack of character/chemistry ..etc, becomes more and more evident every season. The more players you pile up, the more hilarious and satisfying your inevitable plummet is for the rest of baseball.
Why wouldnt the Yankees take advantage of the system. It is allowing them the best chance to win. Are you trying to imply that if any other team besides the Yankees had that money that they wouldn't spend it because they wanted to be fair to the other teams? Please... spare me.

Baseball is played to have fun. Those that win have fun. Baseball is also a business. So those with money will obviously spend more than those without it.... so dont try to blame the Yankees for trying to provide the fans with the best oppurtunity to win. Sounds like your a little sore that your Double A Oregon Purple Beavers dont have an exciting lineup like many MLB teams do.

And by the way, I've been to several minor league games... including AA Trrenton. And yes, I do like them. But theres no point in debating with you since you seem to have a hatred towards any team that spends money.

Yet, the Daily News, for example, was quick to make this out like it was only capable of beating a Triple A team.
Well, for a number of reasons the Daily News is making it out to be a sub-par rotation (Brown and Vasquez's performances last season, Mussina's inconsistency, etc.) but I'd say the major reason is that that rotation doesn't look so good next to Boston's. And everything the Red Sox do gets compared to the Yankees and vice versa. It's like there are two categories to MLB: Yankees and Red Sox, and the rest of the league.

I love it when some of the yankee fans refer to George's spending resulting from some sincere love he has for the fans in New York. Can't you just see him up there in the owner's box grinning happily like a proud parent on Christmas morning after he's presented his loving fans with another 15 run mashing of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. It isn't the victory itself that warms his coorporate soul, but rather the look of glee on the faces of all the young yankee fans after Giambi mashes a game-winning 315 ft home-run down the right-field porch off Estaban Yan.

Anytime someone refers to Carlos Beltran as 'icing' I will have to pipe in. My problem is not with spending money but with spending money to excess... the Yankees no longer develop players, but leech off the players that other teams develop. As a large market with the best resources they owe it to the game to develop players to contribute to the game as a whole. They no longer do this and in my opinion that makes them a parasitic organization.

And guess what, they suck. With a few exceptions, not surprisingly from their home-grown guys like Jeter, Bernie, Posada, Rivera... this team plays uninspired ball. However, there's so much glitz and glam to this team that it keeps the weaker yankee fans fixated with the promise of new players to be purchased... ah, Beltran, Pavano, bleh... it makes me sick.

The funny thing is that I believe in the yankee tradition. I believe that players reared in the yankee system are special and tougher than players brought up elsewhere. As much as I dislike his team, I think Derek Jeter is awesome. But as a fan of this game I find the yankees, the present yankees, to be a deplorable organization.

Well, seeing as how they haven't won a world series since they started shelling out the huge contracts to the likes of Mussina, Giambi, and Sheffield, running the team this way obviously isn't giving them the best chance to win.

The Yankees have sent Wright to get a second opinion, so the deal is up in the air. The Yankees have turned their attention to Eric Milton and have offered Carl Pavano a 4yr $40 mil. contract. If Wright is given the thumbs up after his second set of test results are in, the Yankees may still sign all three and send Kevin Brown to Atlanta. The Yankees have offered to pay the majority of Brown's '05 salary and expect him to waive his no-trade clause if a deal can be met.

So right now the Wright deal is in limbo.
