    Tigers, JD Drew and Lowe?

I'm hearing more about Derek Lowe and JD Drew here in Detroit, and it's not getting me excited. Injury prone centerfielder, and possibly over the hill pitcher. I know we have to do something, I just hope we don't pay too much for these guys, at the right price it makes sense to sign them, but you don't overpay like you would to get a Beltran or Pavano

Drew is not bad at all, He had a good year last year, and I don't think he's a CF, He play's RF.

drew is a true CF. he only played RF because he played for two teams with established CFs in edmonds and jones.

I am with you Mgo, I do not like it.

Boras seems to think Drew is worth 10 million a year. If you are going to blow that kind of cash spend a little more and get what they need: Third Base Help. I would rather have the make a serious run at Beltre then throw a lot of cash at these two

I think the fact that no one is interested in Lowe will help you get him for a reasonable price. The Sox are fearful Lowe will take them up on arbitration, so that shows you how few suitors there are for him. As far as JD, he really carried the Braves in the regular season as the Joneses had below average years and Giles was hurt for months. His tag will come down I'm sure...Beltran is already cutting his expectations just about in half and Varitek will sign below Boras's demands as well.

exactly...I really don't mind Derek Lowe, just not at Pavano or whatever money he thinks he deserves...Lowe's not a top flight pitcher right now, he could rise back up to that, but he has something to prove. I'd love to see Beltre, him and Pavano were the two I really wanted.

Looking back, I shoulda known I was screwed when I actually thought the Tigers had a shot at getting Pavano (IMO the best free agent pitcher this year). I should know better than to get excited for Detroit Baseball or Football, to actually think they have a chance.

If I were you guys, I would really be excited for Drew. He had the best season of his life last year and he is in his prime.
