That was 14 straight, 1991-2005 for the Braves, ESPN. Get your facts right.

True, but a lot of people don't give them credit for 14 straight since there wasn't one handed out in 1994 (and the Expos had the lead). I think that's why they did the cutoff like they did, but I noticed it as well.

Pops in, Cubs win, Brewers lose, Cards win (the SF Giants are absolutely pathetic and I hate them for how they've been rolling over for MIL and STL).

Not a bad night, especially considering the Cub bullpen had to work 4 innings. And work it, they did.

Cubs' magic number cut to 6 with a 2.5 game lead and 8 games yet to be played. If the NL ended today, the Braves would host the Dodgers in the NLDS and the Cubs would invite the winner of Brewers-Cardinals to Wrigley.

Rowdy Rowdy Tellez is going off as a September callup.
        16 games, 19 hits, 9 doubles, 3 home runs, 12 RBIs, .404AVG, 1.204OPS

The way he and many other of these young guys are playing in September, even more reason Jays should get rid of everyone 30+ in the offseason.

Twins walk themselves off with a wild pitch. A's
magic number done to 1. So awesome to think this was supposed to maybe be a .500 team and now they're one win away from going to the WC game.

Brewers keep being the Brewers losing to the Pirates while the Cubs and Cards win.

At least the Badgers squeaked one out.

Today is Ken "Hawk" Harrelson's last day in the booth. To which I say--it's about time.

Back when I was a younger lad growing up in the Chicago metro area and hadn't gone 100% down the Cubs fandom path yet, I though Harrelson and his partner Tom "Wimpy" Paciorek made a good tandem. It certainly helped that the White Sox had some really compelling teams after drafting Frank Thomas. But, their broadcasts have become unlistenable with Harrelson not aging well in the booth and their failure to capture the camaraderie of 'Hawk and Wimpy' with other guys they've tried pairing with Harrelson.

                  I like Hawk.

Going to miss listening to him in the booth.

White Sox should make these uni's their normal home uniforms. I like'em

Another 6 and two thirds scoreless for Snell, lowering his ERA to 1.90. It's going to be painful when he gets snubbed for the Cy Young like he did for the All Star team

                          Snubbed?

As of this morning (don't think all sites have updated their stats) Snell is 7th in fWAR, 2nd in bWAR and 5th in WARP. 6th in FIP, 7th in xFIP, 7th in SIERRA, 7th in K-BB%, 2nd in WHIP, 1st in ERA-, 1st in ERA+.

He leads in some of the traditional stats like wins (pretty much useless as a proxy for how good a pitcher is) and ERA. He's 18th on innings pitched.

He has had a great season, leading an out of nowhere Rays team to contention for a Wild Card, but to say that he is going to be "snubbed" like he is above and beyond the best pitcher in the AL is not true.

I haven't looked....but how many other pitchers are in the top 7 in all those categories? Off the top of my head, maybe Kluber? I can't count Sale at this point because he's not going to come close to the IP required...

Just based on what you wrote, I'd say he most certainly has been one of if not the best pitcher in the AL.

Verlander has pitched 40 more innings than Snell. He has 2.3 more WAR than Snell. Has a FIP 20 points lower than Snell. 80 more strikeouts, 22 fewer walks. But, Verlander's wins and ERA aren't quite as gaudy.

                                I'd probably go: 1. Verlander 2. Snell 3. Kluber/Bauer
