He's a fun player, but the injuries are an issue and he's not as good of a hitter as he's proclaimed to be. The Cubs have already invested a ton of money in Heyward, so unless they can move his contract, I don't see them paying more big money to Harper with so many other issues to figure out with the roster.

Re: Will Bryce Harper Resign With the Nationals?
I know people have mentioned the Dodgers, but what if he were to sign with the other LA team, the Angels? Would they have the money to sign him, pay Trout and Ohtani?
Trout's under contract until 2021 correct?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Will Bryce Harper Resign With the Nationals?
The one team that I could see him signing with are the Dodgers. As a Yankees fan, I’d take him but I don’t think there is any room for him on the team as the Yankees outfield is full.

Re: Will Bryce Harper Resign With the Nationals?
Yankees have Hicks, Judge, Gardner, (hopefully) Frazier and sometimes Stanton. Things could be move for him to play left field but it depends on the money and with Boras as his agent I won't hold my breath, but Yankees could use a lefty bat.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

True. Maybe the Yanks will shop Gardner around to see what they can get. Don’t really like that as I think Gardner is a valuable asset to yanks. We shall see.

Re: Will Bryce Harper Resign With the Nationals?
Would love to see Bryce land with the Cubs. Yeah, he'll be pricey and the Cubs have other (lesser) options, but I think mostly worth it. Just in merchandising alone and TV ratings/sponsor dollars, he'll likely recoup a decent chunk of his impending $800M deal (exaggerating) for whichever team signs him. Plus adding him allows the Cubs to finally send Schwarber to the AL where he belongs and recoup some decent talent in the process.
The only thing that would give me a little bit of pause is his K rate has shot up a little bit and another 3-true outcome player is not what the Cubs need (unless the other 2 true outcomes are extremely true). Just because he hasn't been as good as Mike Trout wouldn't stop me from opening Tom Ricketts' bill fold.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Won’t even be mad if this happens. May be what the Phillies need to bring them back to the top of the NL East. Do the Phils have the loot for Harper?

Re: Will Bryce Harper Resign With the Nationals?
This needs a third option...Nats shouldn't try to resign Harper. The Nats potentially have a top 10 outfield without Harper in the mix. Juan Soto in left, Victor Robles in center, and Adam Eaton in right field is a pretty solid, young core in my opinion.
Not to mention, the Nats are going to need some cash soon since Max is about to hit the $30/mil per year part of his deal.Comment

Re: Will Bryce Harper Resign With the Nationals?
I dont see Harper staying with the Nats. Honestly if I were a GM or a owner, I dont think I would break the bank for Harper. Sure he is a great player when he is typically healthy, but he hasnt been durable enough IMO to warrant a long term deal worth 300-400 million dollars.
However some team will dish it out for him. I dont see the Yankees doing so, because LF and RF are already locked with Stanton and Judge, and there is no way I would want Harper as my everyday CF'er. I doubt Harper wants to be a DH and I doubt Stanton would want to DH a lot of games, and with Judge being such a good RF'er, you want his D on the field.
Phillies, Cubs and maybe the Dodgers I could see going hard after Harper. If I were betting, I probably bet on Phily signing Harper.
However I could see the Cubs go hard after him, and look to try and trade Heyward, since he is somewhat of a liability at the plate. But Heyward contract is a big one for a glorified defensive RF'er, so I wouldnt think teams would be too eager to trade for him, and I wouldnt think even if the Cubs ate part of the money owed to him, that teams would give up much talent for Heyward.
But Kris Bryant and Harper are best friends, and signing Harper, may give them a better chance to lock up Bryant. Because as of now Bryant has turned down the Cubs offers to lock him up, like the Angels did with Trout.
It will be interesting to see where Harper ends up, because when he is healthy, he can carry a team, but his problem is he always ends up hurt at some point.
I could be wrong, but I dont think the Yankees or the Red Sox will have much interest in Harper. Im not even sure just how interested the Dodgers would be, but my guess is they will likely make a run at him.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11
