    Sosa to Mets back on?

So the mets GM is courting Sammy back in the Dominican? That's what ESPN is saying. What it's really gonna come down to is how much the Cubs will eat of his salary. But they are eager to get in the Beltran sweepstakes so this deal may happen this week.

I have a feeling this deal will go down. NYM also really want to land Delgado, so I could see them adding Sammy and Delgado to the middle of the lineup. If that happened, they would probably have to trade Piazza or Floyd. Still having Sosa, Delgado, Piazza/Floyd as your 3/4/5 guys aren't too shabby.

if this deal is going to cost the mets delgado, or run the mets 40 some odd million, i would hate to see this happen but if the cubs eat some of his contract and we get a good deal, it cant hurt. Floyd, cameron and sosa in the outfield, wright, matsui, reyes, delgado, piazza is not a bad starting 8. especially if wright matsui and reyes do what they are expected to do, im not saying we will be in the show guarenteed, but we are headed in the right direction.

I would really stay away from Sosa if I'm Minaya. It's obvious over the last couple years that his skills are declining. The Mets would have to take on a lot of money no matter how much the Cubs pick up. Plus with the steriiod issue clouded over baseball I wouldn't want to bring in someone who may be on the juice, it can only hurt the team.

I really don't know why Minaya is so fascinated in Sammy. The guy is obviously declining and will get major heat in NY if he struggles early on. If i'm Minaya i'd rather concentrate on Delgado and leave Sammy alone. The only way I would pick up Sammy Sosa is if the Cubs eat up a lot of his contract. Other than that i'd keep far away from him.

The only way this deal happens is if the Cubs think they have a real shot at signing Beltran. The other problem is for the Cubs to be able to affored Beltran they won't be able to eat a large part of Sosa's contract, meaning the Mets will have to pay most, if not all of Sammy's salary. Which Omar Minaya may be willing to do if the Mets can't sign Carlos Delgado.
